My practice rig. Keep it simple.

That is similar to mine. I also use a Champion 600 reissue for now (I am working up a black face Vibro Champ). I swapped out the tubes. That helped some. The big difference was when I swapped the stock speaker with a Weber and replaced the velveteen grill with a piece of Fender maroon grill cloth. Until then I intend to use an external cab with the Champion. That Weber speaker really improved the sound and allowed me to use the small light weight cab.

I will admit I do run a Fender reverb unit with the Champion 600 reissue. I have to have that, even with a small practice unit.

Talk to you later,
Norm

I think it sounds good, but I plan on changing the tubes and maybe the speaker eventually, I'm just lazy. They do sound great into a bigger extension cab, I tried it with 2 10s and it ripped. For everything else I use my Deluxe Reverb. Reverb isn't the same as a tank but for now it's good enough.

I had planned to build a 2x10 cab for mine. Then I came across a deal on a 6 inch Weber speaker, so I tried that. I was really surprised at the difference a new speaker made in that cab. I have scrapped my plans for an extension cab for it. Handier this way and has a great tone. I have read about various mods that can be made. But I am happy with how mine sounds, so I will leave it as is.

Talk to you later,
Norm

IMO.

Two months since your last post, Preston, and you show us... that... ... Picard Face Palm Hahahaha. I knew about it, but, Oy Vey I'm sure it's good for something. Congratulations, I think. Big Grin

BTW, what ever happened to your dad's Jaguar? (Ain't I a little stinker?)

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Yeah dude! Jag.

Sigh

Jag is indefinitely paused. I've got a list of purchases as long as the equator, and no job until December... Unfortunately, it just doesn't make sense for me right now. I'm still without a good amp, reverb, or DAW... Ya know. With 6 or so great guitars, I just can't justify putting any more money into that until other purchases are out of the way.

The new guitar is amazing. I had to do it... I really did. Wink And I may just have to throw together some surf stuff with it to prove that it really does do anything I want it to. Big Grin

IMO.

I would literally die if I had a Jag project just sitting around. It is almost finished!

Get Logic Pro X for Christmas(presuming you have a Mac). You won't need an amp and the reverb on there is very good.

Or make an argument for your parents to get it now. For $200, I could have a device that allows me to play amplified guitar, record my music, edits my music, has thousands of midi instruments that I can easily use to create orchestration of my songs.

Most people aren't good at getting things. They just ask for them, if you have a good justification you can get anything you want. That is my specialty at work, that is my x-factor that makes me a valuable employee. Useful tool! Start early!

How do you think I got this guitar? Big Grin

Kidding. I don't have a mac, unfortunately... But I've got my eye on protools or cubase and superior drummer. Hopefully when I start getting paid, that sort of thing will come quickly.

IMO.

hi preston! got ya an 8 string? Ibanez? looks cool!

Enjoying the surf,sun and sand!!

Uh huh! 8 is great! Big Grin

I've been messing with using it as a bass. The weird thing is that it actually sounds good in that situation. Cool all around guitar! The seventh string feels super natural, surprisingly.

IMO.

I think I am going to get a Jag body finished like this... I am debating between this or Sherwood.

Actually both pretty nice and unique. I'd prefer sherwood, as you almost never see it on a guitar.

Jake,
I know you're pretty savy about these things but be careful if going the Sherwood Green route. The actual, original color by code is not what you see being labeled Sherwood today and most people's perception of what the color is is not accurate. For example, and no offense intended here, but the green that SanchoPansen posted is not Sherwood and the color that Fender is marketing today is darker than the original. The original code has elements of turquoise in it, slightly aqua. It could be good to just find a picture of the shade you like and have it color matched.

GTHO - cool creation!

DonKiyote - There are no "leagues" just tools that we're awfully fond of to create music with. Yours look perfect for the job.
