Thanks Badger! Cool pics! 'tis a beautiful thing this. Now I have a Strat to sell to pay for it. Guitar show in Costa Mesa tomorrow, I guess the Strat goes with me.

I had heard they were going to be released in fall, more towards the end of the year. Look forward to hearing what people say about it. I have been considering getting one. Vibrolux voiced(vintage) channel for surf, custom channel (bassman)for my blusier playing. I was wondering if both channels break-up at about the same volume, or does the "custom" channel break up sooner than the vintage channel.

I actually find the best Surf sound on the custom channel. There's more midrange and that gives a sound that is more along the lines of a brownface. It's very much the classic, first-wave, Surf sound.

Actually I think it is a higher value resistor than the original BF circuit to present less negative feedback to the power section. A lower value would tend to clean it up and produce more clean headroom.

I did a little searching and Sam Ash has the amp on their website but it shows out of stock. MF doesn't have it listed for sale yet. Time to figure out what I'm going to get rid of to fund this purchase.

Yeah funny thing about the BF reissue Vibrolux; I'll be curious since I'm in there often enough to see how the new one on the other side of the store sells, as well as the mint used one behind the SF in the pics above (priced at alot less).

KBK, I hear ya. I'm really on the fence about this amp now. I'd like something a little different (custom channel) but I'm uncertain if the normal/vintage channel is blackface enough to suit me. I can build VR clone for less than the cost of this new amp and am also considering an Allen Encore build.

I built an Encore for a customer/friend (the raw know/control is excellent and the master volume is very usable) and am considering this amp as an alternative. Testing the Encore was one of the most pleasurable experiences I've ever had with my cloths on.

Before I built the Allen I was experimenting with grounding schemes to further quiet blackface Fender designs more for studio work than anything. I hate having to gate a guitar amp when recording.

I settled on a modified star ground system that isolates the preamp, power amp and power supply stages. Ironically it is nearly identical to what David Allen has done with his amps.

He, Allen, really has made very usable improvements to BF Fender designs. Basically makes an amp that is much more versatile without loosing the clean chimey BF signature sound when you want it. Even Fender has not done that......and they should have.
