I just Googled the controls found on the old stand-alone Reverbs wondering what they did and was wondering if these could be duplicated on am amp like my 78 Silverface Twin Reverb.
If I understand what I am reading the "Dwell" is the equivalent of what the single knob ("Reverb") on my amp does. Is that correct? If so can a volume system -- maybe even just a pot? -- be put into the cable from the tank to the input jack? Wouldn't that at least give the ability to reduce the mix? Or what if a small boost pedal was used there with its own volume control -- would that give you the equivalent of that control?
Tone would appear to be simpler yet. Maybe even a mini line-level equalizer?
Even crazier, what about wiring the tank's output into the "Normal" channel of the amp? (Unless it's line output was too high? Anyone know these values or other considerations I may not have thought of?) Then the "Reverb" could be dwell, the volume of the channel would become "Mix" and the tone controls would be even more capable than the single tone control on the old units.
Anyhow, just brainstorming.

You can patch the reverb pan output into channel 1 if you wish .There are some threads about doing this in the gear section. This is the for sale/trade section of the site.

Hey Don,
what you describe is an old trick which many of us have tested before (including myself). Simply run the output of the reverb pan into the input of channel 1 on your (Fender) amp - you have to use an rca connector adapter for this. Doesn't work on all models though. You get the effect described in your post. But it doesn't sound like a real reverb unit. You could also add a (treble)boost pedal in this line to give the reverb more depth.
The Fender VibroKing has the 'tone', 'mix' and 'dwell' pots and you can dial in some really nice (surf)sounds on this particular amp. But again, it does not sound like a real reverb unit.
Feel free to check out our Reverb Wiki by clicking here.
Edit: I just noticed you posted this in the trade part of the forum. Head over to the gear section for more information on this topic. The search function on this site might also be of help.

Thanks both!
Sorry for the misplaced post! I was still here (without realizing it) after seeing the reverb for sale. The pics of its control panel is what got me thinking. (I'd never seen a separate unit before)
