Traded my Tokai strat yesterday for something a little old school.
wish it had a trem, but I'm digging it thus far.
It's a Fender Mustang Special Pawn Shop edition.
These have the wide range Fender humbuckers that are coil split 2 different
directions...making 18 different combinations for tone.
the neck is a bit more narrow than I normally enjoy, but I'm digging it thus far.
Second NGD is an $89 bullet strat from GC over the 4th of July weekend.
Check it out!
I had a $100 bonus from work that I was trying to stay close to, but was prepared to do the 150 if needed.
I played the bullets, and after about 20 minutes decided it was going home with me. I kid you not, I was one of the first people in the store, and several came in while I was playing...every one of the guys who came in while I was playing picked up a bullet and looked them over...some palyed them, one bought a USA strat...but everybody stopped to stare at the finish.
The finish on these is BEAUTIFUL! Thick sparkle in aqua, candy cola, or silver.
I played the one in the store that was setup quite poorly, but they gave me one brand new in the box.
They had a stack of them there (15 or so) unopened. Nice display with a US flag and US flag straps hanging over each of the 3 opened guitars (one of each color). I was very shocked at the pickups...they sound very single coilish if needed, but do sound thicker than the pickups on my 83 strat.
The neck is nice, NO fret overhang at all. I bought some new strings, and walked out the door paying $101.56....not bad.
The tuners are not good and they will be replaced. It's got a thin trem block, but in all honesty, it works well. I'm keeping the humbuckers in there.
