Permalink Cool, Offbeat Basses and Guitars....what companies make them?

I've been looking for something off the beaten path bass wise. Danelecto, Eastwood, Dipinto etc. What are some other lesser known companies/builders that make interesting, unique instruments? I know some of you know where to get stuff like this! =)

Here are a few off the top of my head. Please note I haven't played any of the following basses and therefore I can't comment on their quality. I own guitars from both the Ibanez Jet King series and the Yamaha SGV series though and they're both great instruments.

Ibanez Jet King Bass JTKB200 & JTKB300 (out of production, but turn up used now and then)

Yamaha SBV (oop too, somewhat rare)

Wow! Those are great! Thanks LeeVanCleef for the images. Of course my fave from this is the blue Yamaha SBV. Fumi from the Japanese band POLYSICS plays those and they look and sound awesome. I'll look around and see what's available at a reasonable price. =)
