Permalink Bassman AB165 fuse?

New Topic

Blew a fuse in my 67' Bassman AB165. Could anybody tell me what the correct rating fuse is to use? I found one that I had on hand that works, but it has a lower rating, I'm guessing this is a no-no, but just for the hell of it, can you manipulate the tone at all by using different fuses?

fuse are to protect your amp circuitry only. find the right one.

The Schematic shows a 2 amp slo-blow for the AB165 Bassman.

Keep it Drippy Brothers and Sisters!

Just bought some for a Pro Reverb (which had a 3A in it - wrong fuse). Here ya go:

Thanks for the info!

The fuse probably blew for another reason (i.e.; other than just the fuse randomly blowing). Mains fuses are there to protect your amp from situations where the amp is drawing excessive current, like a bad output tube, or a failing filter capacitor. It probably would pay to get your amp checked by a tech

I think it blew because I pulled the wrong preamp tube, while the amp was on..
If the right tube is pulled, the amp runs hotter and breaks up at lower volumes
I accidentally pulled the wrong one and the first note I played blew the fuse.

There is no 'right' tube to pull while the amp is still on.

If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.

i'll be turning the amp off when I pull tubes from now on

2 amp slo blow. Unless it's been scratched, out it's labeled on the back plate of the amp below the fuse holder. Which is true with all Fender amps. In fact, I think, labeling externally accessed fuses is a UL requirement.
