I'm still so stoked from yesterday I don't know what to say. I've blathered on like a kid too much here already. Probably put my foot in it a couple of times, too. Let's just say I'm overwhelmed. I can't wait to see the videos! I have to save my many, many thank you for when I have my computer. —This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got. NOBODY can do what they did to that place last night. From where I was sitting high in the bleachers, it was Daikaiu/crowd/cameras..........wall to wall. The whole world is the stage to those guys, and NOBODY is going to upstage, downstage or outstage 'em. Period. bewildered, ed —Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. I think bigtikidude put it correctly once when they finished on the other coast one time: "You have just experienced Daikaiju." (vs simply listening to them) This must've been outta hand in the best way. —Wes DISCLAIMER: The above is opinion/suggestion only & should not be used for mission planning/navigation, tweaking of instruments, beverage selection, or wardrobe choices. |

What hasn't been said about @Instro Summit that hasn't been said 1,000 times before? Honestly? There is a lot that can be said, as this yearly event is a surreal experience with much less in common with concerts and 'shows' than with old-school Southern Homecomings and, at the very least, Comic and Sci-fi conventions. For one weekend per year, a large portion of the instrumental music community convene on North Carolina for a weekend of music, drinks, food, and (most importantly) fellowship. Much needs to be said for the passion and efforts of one Crispy Bess. The man is much more than just the organizer of this event. He is a musical legend in some circles and, honestly, perhaps one of the most earnest and loving individuals I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. His love of music seems to be blood that courses through his veins. While connected enough to be able to fill his festival with the biggest and most legendary bands of the genre, each year he dedicates a large portion of the lineup to new and green bands, offering them an opportunity to sell themselves to a captive and highly representative audience, as well as to many well-established bands from all over the world. There couldn't be a better service to a startup band. I know that 4 years ago Kill,Baby...Kill! took the stage a mere 5 months into our run as a live band. That moment opened the doors that have allowed us to continue touring as a semi national act, as well as sell many more records than we ever imagined possible. Even more, it introduced us to friends that we hold dear and imagine will be lifelong. I will close this by stating that this past weekend was overwhelming. If there is one thing to be said about Instro Summit that comes across as even remotely negative, it is that there is just such limited time and SO MANY people to catch up with. That is beside the idea of experiencing 28 live bands, open jams, etc. Seeing Insect Surfers, The Mystery Men?, Crazy Aces, The Out of Limits, The Weisstronauts, Phatlynx, Dai Kaiju, Atomic Mosquitos, The Intoxicators!, Gemini 13, @El Capitan and the Band with no Name, Aqualads, Daikaiju and many more in one place is beyond amazing. —THE KBK ... I hope Motorco can forgive the epicness of the evening, and host it again next year- the Summit is REALLY taking off locally. I was surprised to see so many people I knew from outside of instro/surf circles there attending this event, and this just builds more momentum. — |

Yes! The crowds do seem to be getting bigger. And Motorco is a great venue for this! morphball wrote: — Paul |

The best East Coast music bang for the buck there is. Every one of the bands was exceptional. Next year I am moving into the Duke Tower for the whole three days of mass insanity. The cool thing is that you can walk two blocks to the Motorco. Noel, watcha wanna sit-in and play with the "Men from Surge!" next year? Thanks surfinjohnnyq for your support! He drove all the way from South Dakota!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Reeling Jeff, we all are. It is so amazing to be able to catch up with so many old buds and meet so many new ones! Whew! Best Reverbs! ed —Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps? |

WOW !!!!!!! What a great weekend !!!!! A big thank you to Crispy for setting up and even more EPIC INSTRO SUMMIT !!! So great to see so many of the members of this forum at the show and spend some time hanging out and listening to some great music . Among some of the new members I met were JohnPaul , Insect Dave as well as surfinjohnnyq AKA Johnny Kahuna ... There were so many other members there too from the forum that I can't remember all the handle names , but I tried to get a chance and speak with everyone I could . It was great to catch up with the other local members who make it out every year to the Summit as well . I can't say enough about the great vibe and Love that we all share at this tremendous event that our head Insta-gator works so hard at putting together such a line up of great bands ! "A special thank you goes out to Noel for the Quilter back line amp .This is the second year I've used it and love the sound .
