I'm a little late to the post, but this is awesome. I'm a member of the band (just the keyboard guy, so there's that...), so a big hearty thanks for all the kind words everyone. Always glad when people enjoy the stuff. Have to be when your basically 8 people geeking out over film scores and trying our best to impersonate some un-impersonatable amazing talent from days past.
Colin, welcome to sg101! Very glad you're here. Your band, your music is quite extraordinary. Really wonderful. Federale really ought to consider submitting something to the SG101 2013 compilation. The topic is here.

Jeff, your avatar is especially suited, as that's how we live our entire stage life. You can never have enough...
Hello Colin, welcome.
I hadn't listened to yer band for a few months.
But then I just broke it out again this past weekend.
Still sounding great.
Would love to get you guys back down here again.
Who's the best band member to talk to about making that happen?

Bummer, I guess I didn't have my subscriptions set right. We're working on new stuff always, so maybe next go around we'll have something ready!

We always hope soon, as touring is the best part of playing music to me. The challenge is that 5 of the 8 members now have (or are about to) kids in the past year (including myself). With 8 of us before it was a challenge to schedule something together, but now it's quite difficult. Just scheduling shows in our hometown is a difficult task.
As the kids grow we'll hopefully be able to get out again more often.

This is awesome stuff guys! Another cool act is the Spaghetti Western Orchestra. There's a whole concert on YouTube. Very entertaining and they use several unconventional instruments to achieve sounds.

I'm digging this a lot. The "weird instrumentation" is one of the best parts of playing this style of music...

Welcome Colin. We really do hope another gig will be possible. I am still beating myself up for missing the one Jeff attended. I haven't found another band that understands how to create and play Spaghetti Western music quite like you guys. My 8 year old daughter always asks to listen to Tribe, Fine, War Cry and Hero.
All the best,
Ran

Ok, greatest username yet! Thanks, much appreciated. There's some awesome folks out there, and it's been nice to see the genre making a comeback, especially in film and the like. It's an interesting genre to tackle, and we do stray from time to time as well (we are all huge Dario Argento fans as well, so some more "Goblin"-esque stuff has creeped in a bit). My recent favorite, though, is the soundtrack to "casa de mi padre". Some really amazing music on that, considering being a comedy spoof of a low budget film.
We will definitely be back down soon, once the last baby is out and able!

I like both kinds of music – Spaghetti and Western.

So, Carol and I made it on out to Mississippi Studios on Friday night to catch our first Federale show. We were very impressed and entertained at this intimate venue. These guys have it nailed with that reverby spaghetti thing (Gretsches I believe, a cool reverby Gibson amp along with a Twin Reverb and a Bassman for the guitars). Collin Hegna's writing is top notch. Colin's keys are cool. Love the trumpet. Love Maria Karlin's beautiful high vocalizations. Love the whistling. Dig the thwacks. See them if you can. Buy their stuff! Hopefully Jeff can convince them to appear at an SG101 convention!

Thanks for the review Rick.
Wish I could have been there.
Would love to have them at SG101!
