Hey All ... I'm searching for any surf/rockabilly/surf garage bands who are looking for gigs. I'm booking bands for a bar in Chicago. If you're interested or know of any bands that may be interested, please let me know or send me the myspace link. Thanks a lot!

The Cocktail Preachers and The Reluctant Aquanauts spring to mind immediately. And there is a surf band from Waukegan called Roger and The Wraybands. I don't know how active they are.
A little farther up is The Exotics and Nelsonics from Milwaukee. The Exotics only seem to play the Exotica events though; they might be semi-inactive.

Contact Josh at the Haole Kats. Here's their website. They play under 2 names - the Wholly Cats which is Jump Blues & Rockabilly. Their AlterEgo, the Haole Kats, is surf. They're really good and very entertaining and they swing through Chicago during their summer tour. Tell Frank from CUTBACK sent ya'. Here's their website.

my band would love to play around there, we're looking for some cool gigs in chicago. have you ever heard of flatfoot 56? we've played with them a few times up here in michigan, so maybe you could hook something up with the two of us. they are a celtic punk band, though, but they will draw a huuge crowd.

Hey JoshHeartless ... does your band have a myspace page? Or a link to hear your music? I'll check out Flatfoot 56, too.

hi Crinolin - welcome to sg101 btw!
with every post, you see a couple of greenish blocks on the bottom, one of 'em is "profile" click it and you'll get to the member's profile. most people who are in bands have webpage and myspace info there. (not trying to talk before Josh - just pointing it out in case you want to find other people's pages and 'spaces there's a wealth of great music here!)

Big Surf (from Minnesota) would be a good choice, too...

These guys seem not be in 101-space, but they definitely do MySpace and they are located in the I-states. Apparently, there's an alternate reality Bloomington, an Illinioid one. (This sounds a bit like a Vonnegut plot.) Anyway, the alternate Bloomington - let's call it Bloomington-sub-I - is where they manifest most strongly. However, the Interstate Transportation Principle suggests that there is a measurable probability that they will manifest in Chicago, too, especially for a gig. Theoretically they could even manifest in Denver, but it hasn't happened yet - not when I was looking - and I guess the probability is pretty low. (Unfortunately, if you look it modifies the probabilities, apparently lowering them.)
