Permalink The Pyramids on American Bandstand (1964)

I bumped into this video by pure chance and didn't find it posted anywhere on SG101. Can you believe it? Shock

The Pyramids play along to "Penetration" on American Bandstand, followed by an interview (mostly about the hairs... i.e. their absence).

Enjoy!

I had never seen that! Thanks for posting!

Thanks!
Too bad they weren't really playing,
But most shows were mimed back then.

The poor sax player had nothing to do on this song but the moves.

I thought the same thing!

On an interesting note, the former bass player for the SSIV, Nick White, is married to Skip's (lead guitarist in the Pyramids) daughter. Nick has a new band here locally called Whiskey Kiss. Check them out!

I don't remember seeing that either. I didn't watch A.B. regularly back then. Great video.

I remember seeing that show. Remember commenting about the sax player then too.

Great Find!
I saw The Pyramids back in the day. When they performed, it was the real deal. Lip-sync and no instrument hook-up was just the easiest was to present music on TV. But at the Dances, it was always a live performance.
You could hear the Fender Bass a block away. It was like thunder in the night. Each Dance (once a month) had at least 3 Bands a night, and this was Junior High, too.
The High School kids from like seven different, local high schools, would all go to the Pasadena Civic Auditorium every Saturday Night. All bands performed live. Dick Dale was a regular headliner, and all the other Surf Bands came, too. they always had great headliners, too.
Thanks for sharing this video! I've met people here in Hawaii that went to school with these guys.

Aloha,
Kim
