I have a good trick to keep the strings from unwinding Cut the ball end off of some old strings and put your new strings straight through it. The extra ball end will end up between the new string's ball end and the tremolo. It keeps the string from rubbing against the tremolo tail piece. Works like a charm for me! |

Apart from some minor differences the Whammy is totally different. It also has a sidejack. IDK if it is worth the extra $, but heard only good things about them. I personally dislike sunburst and sidejacks on Mosrite(style guitars). Still waiting for the bolt on model! — |

The difference between the 59 and the 60 is two fold. First, the 59 has a Side Jack instead of having it mounted on the pick guard. The second difference is it having a Hand Cast version of the Vibrato. However, this is really an asthetic thing. I actually own a 59 Custom with the standard Shade Vibrato. I was able to pay the same price as the 60 Custom for having this modification. The paint job on the 59 Custom, if you are into Sunburst, is outstanding, as it has a 2 tone headstock. —THE KBK ... So for someone who's never played a Mosrite style guitar, what's the best way to describe the sound of the Hallmark (Custom 59 and 60) versions in relation to a Srat, Jag, Tele etc? |

Yep Ben, that sunburst one was a real honey. I loved to just sit around and noodle on it for hours. Thought I looked pretty spiffy (for and old guy) playing it as well. I never did use it live much as it was so different sounding from my Jazzmaster. But I finally ended up using light gauge flats on it to thicken up the tone and that made it much more happy and familar sounding. Recently it has moved to Richard's house to help soften the blow of the 355. As a matter of fact I am still working with the 355 and the flats to come up with a real comfy combo that I can't put down as well. All said though, My AVRI Jazzmaster is THE tough act to follow. Bob at Hallmark always seemed like a good guy to deal with.. ed —Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps? |
