I don't work for the Hallmark guitar company, nor do most people even know they exist. That's sad in itself, but I got tired of everyone telling me that strats or jags were the only guitars that I could play on. They're ripping people off in some cases on prices. Hallmark are top notch and you can't beat the trem on them.
I have a Hallmark II and I'm planning on getting another one with a set neck soon. I truly have yet to find another brand out there using top notch components and US wood for as cheap as they are.

I love my Hallmark C60! I still mostly use my AVRI Jag, but whenever I re-string the C60 with a fresh set of Chrome 11s it roars and I don't put it down for days.
I agree the price is terrific for a guitar that is more playable and better constructed than the original Mosrites

Another happy Hallmark C60 owner here. Lately I too have been mostly playing a Jag but my Hallmark is still a favorite. Besides being very playable and having the best trem I've experienced on any guitar, it just looks "cool" and always draws attention from other guitar players.

Is the trem still super buttery? I liked it initially, but prefer a less springy spring. Like old Jag/Jazz springs. Allows for that super quick flutter.

@Jake: Don't know what they came with when you tested one, but they come with 2 springs now. Heavy and light, so you can pick the one you prefer (and according to your gauge). I agree, the light spring is too soft when you play strings >=.011.

When I first bought mine a few years ago I had a hell of a time finding what strings are best fit for it. Most people prefer lighter rounds on their C60s but I've found 11 chromes flats suit it best

Yup, I started with .010 rounds and currently play .011 flats. Sounds good so far!

Has anyone had issues with the barrel end of the high E string "Unwinding" on a Hallmark? A friend showed me his over the weekend saying it was the third string in a row to do this.
Something to do with the vibrato action? He says he is going to try some solder.
The guitars I have played have been stellar IMO. Every bit as nice as the original Ventures model I had in the 70s. Lighter in weight too.

Chamfer (de-burr) the holes where the strings pass through on both sides of the anchor block. I use a drill bit 2 to 3 times the diameter of the existing hole (s).
That will put a stop to it and how. Having to soldering a string only means that the bridge/vibrato unit has an issue and it needs a little attention

I had this problem. I tried deburing, but it didn't fix things. I spoke with a few Mosrite owners and discovered this isn't uncommon with a Mosrite style vibrato. So now I just solder the twist on my unwound strings before installing.

I had this this problem with a DiPinto guitar. It has a floating trem like a jag/JM. The problem occurred only with D'Addario strings.
Chamfering the string hole on the vibrato block did not stop the problem. I applied a bit of superglue to the winding near the string end. That stopped the problem. I did this to a bunch of high E strings at the same time, preparing for the future.
Applying lead solder to a part that flexes and is subjected to abrasion (the string end) can expose you to lead dust, which has health risks of course.

It is a strange problem. The string is not cut a by burr or sharp edge. The twisted end simply unwinds from the main string length that continues the length of the neck. the first sign of it is a loss of tune on the high E.
I'll look at it again on my next visit and take the above advice into consideration.

I've had the same problem (several times) with the high E string unwinding on my Jag using D'Addario XL Chrome 12-52. At first it seemed like a tuning problem but I kept re-tuning and it would immediately go flat again.
But enough about strings.....The Hallmark's are definitely cool guitars. If I remember correctly it was Eddie K. posting a pic years ago of his new sunburst one....with the alligator case and everything. I've wanted one ever since!!!

I had this problem with both my Jag and Jazzmaster. D'Addario flats tend to do this. I solder my plain strings just where the wrap terminates. In terms of being exposed to lead, I highly doubt it. You risk more exposure breathing the fumes when soldering.

I played original Mosrites years ago and didn't like them at all. The bridge sat way too high and I didn't like the vibrato. I've yet to try a Hallmark version of the Ventures model, but I'm tempted by what people have said here. Trey had a Swept-Wing model for a bit in the SSIV, and I found it about the same as the early Mosrites I tried and didn't like it. I've yet to see someone with a Ventures' model here out in AZ, but I'm curious to try one.

Same here, but in 2012. Ordered my 60 Custom in June/July 2012 and it arrived March 2013. BUT Bob told me from the very beginning and offered a different color he had in stock. He kept me informed and answered all of my questions promptly. In the end it was worth every minute of waiting.
