Yay!!!!!

I know you'll find this instrument pretty cool. I'm still so jazzed about mine!

Nice! Looks great with that Jazzmaster.

looks like my offsets: (Oly White Squire Bass VI and an AVRI Jazzmaster) only my JM is Sherwood Green w/ a tortoise pickguard...I like the Shoreline Gold too.

Offsets are indeed wonderful guitars. Thank you all!
I do love it, almost instantly.
It's a very well made instrument, IMHO like the better Japan quality.
Materials and hardware, nothing top notch but good enough. It sits together like a Fender should.
Still needs a real setup and strings and upgrades and...
Played it briefly, I'm super tired (Baja, The Lonely Surfer, Ritual!)...
Nice.... Niiiiiiice. Niccccccce!!!!! Monkey

Flabby stock E... whatever. Thomastik Flats it shall be. Got the intonation pretty close with a quick setup, bridge is good. I wonder how my stock 9.5 AVRI JM bridge will fit, since I already have a Mastery.
Vibrato mechanism is robust but kinda cranky, maybe I can tinker with the innards to better it. Springs, metals... things can be done.
Neck is awesome! Of course the nut is cut barbarically...

I'm so happy I didn't go before with the other cheap Bass VI options out there, I'd have SO regretted it now. The value for money of this guitar is unbelievable. It's a beauty.
Finally hearing those classic sounds coming from my amp, is an awesome feeling.

Yep, pretty dead on assessment. I agree with everything. You were too kind to the flabby stock E. Granted people will change it, but to a person that doesn't... just unplayable.

My nut wasn't bad, thankfully. Still, a bone nut it shall be. Vibrato needs tinkering to be viable. Not sure if it is the unit, or the setup. So the jury is out...

Turns out I repeated almost exactly what you said earlier (more elaborately), but these are my true feelings, I swear!
I guess it just is what it is.

You were too kind to the flabby stock E.

No I wasn't. Kill it! Kill it!
I do like my strings thick and tight.

Granted people will change it, but to a person that doesn't... just unplayable.

It's their problem then, isn't it... But we can kill them too if you command. Sir.

I really hope I'm not delusional in thinking I can do a great setup on it without the help of a pro.

You aren't delusional, should be easy!

This is all too fun! I agree with Ariel as well. I'll be switching the nut/strings according to the commander's order!

I'm re-reading this whole thread now, experiencing extreme giddiness. Recommended practice to all cult newcomers.
Does anyone from the first lucky batch have any update on their VI music, gear, or spiritual enlightenment?

BTW,

Ariel, looks like they'll make some beautiful music together. Congratulations!

Thank you! Sadly I can't play them both at the same time.

Do you suppose this one could help?

Congrats Ariel! Looking good Smile
You asked about first batch users - I have not updated my pair of Bass VI, since I was working on bulking up my speaker/cab inventory.

In this pic

You can see:
My Sunburst Squier Bass VI (will stay a Bass VI)
My White Squier Bass VI (will go baritone A-A)
My "backup" Xavier D-D
My "custom" Squier Jag with 30+ scale A-A
My "main" AVRI Jazzmaster D-D

Ran

P.S. - today I am picking up a black Squier Bass VI (a present for a good friend).

Thanks Ran! Cheers I was hoping you'd chime in with your twins... This is a very happy room you got there. Wow.

BTW, does anybody have an extra set of 767-6F La Bellas? Seems that every store is out of stock at the monment. Dead Thread It's a global VI attack!!!

Since a few weeks I have a custom made set of floudwound from Pyramid on my '90 MIJ Bass VI. Sounds, feels and fits just perfect, I strongly can recommend you this strings (Pyramid GOLD - .025 .035 .045 .055 .075 .095).

You can order by sending a email to pyramid@junger.de, I asked to make the thick wound part op to 90cm long so it fits the 30,3" scale. Less than 2 weeks later I had them in my mailbox, best service every!

Btw, love the way they make wrap the string ends, here is a pic Smile

Thanks Ariel, I did not know about the LaBella shortage Sad
Christoph, may I ask what was the price for the custom Pyramid set?
That sounds like a very good alternative.

These appear to be in stock... http://www.juststrings.com/lab-767-6f.html

I got a pair off of Ebay last week, I don't see any more right now.

Boost, that's great! That wrap is classy. I love Pyramid strings.
Anything specific for the Squier VI I/we should pay attention to?

Thanks Jake, I did see Juststrings, but they're taking $15 more that other stores plus $50 international shipping. Shock

Either way, Help ... If someone could spare a set... Just regular airmail for a thick envelope, I'll PayPal you ASAP.

Ouch.. that shipping is rough. The $67 US isn't bad, especially since that is the price in British pounds. That shipping though...

Ariel, I'm not sure if the position from the floating tremolo and the scale are exact the same as that from my MIJ Bass VI. So be sure to measure the lengt between the trem and nut to know how long the thick wound part should be and mentioned that when you order.

Hey Ran, nice pic Smile this is what I payed:
Price €48,54
VAT €10,17
Shipping €5,00
Total €63,71
Probably not the cheapest set, but in my opinion it's absulute worth it and knowing how good the flats are for guitar, they will last looong.

My local guitar guy works with selling LaBella strings. He's going to check to see how much a bulk order will cost directly from them. If he gets some, I'd be happy to pick anyone up a set.

I got my LaBellas at http://www.bassstringsonline.com/

I was originally told they were out, but ended up getting a pack within the week. This was in early Feb.

Boost, thanks for the details. How would you compare the Pyramid strings against the LaBella on the VI?

Thanks man. Shame that Bassstringsonline don't list availability on the site. I got this a couple of days ago (after I already ordered a set of Flats) - 'Unfortunately we are waiting on the La Bella strings. We hope to receive them in within the next couple of weeks.'
Maybe some other set of LaBella's would be suitable?

That low E really bothers me, I'll try to find a suitable single locally until stores have them.

Has anybody tried the Circle K Strings yet?

Also, can someone please post a direct link to the correct Tusk nut? I got lost...
