This is an exciting song! Very wild feeling. Does a great job conveying that sensation of being out of control.

Massive Floyd fan, here, and new to the surf guitar community. This is one Floyd song that I have not surf-ified with my group. Well done. Nice energy.

The utmost thanks Noel! Why this came to me I have know idea but it did and it absolutely felt out of control from the beginning. Kind of follows along with Floyd's vision of sheer madness.

Massive Floyd fan here too. Don't know of any Floyd surf covers other than this. Maybe I'll try Sheep next!
Thanks a bunch and cheers my friend!

Ditto; saw 'em twice during the (not really) cold war in Germany, Dark Side & Animals tours. You NAILED it, and the video is perfect (1:01, sly touch there). Before wet suits & PFD's, no one would believe we'd been to the beach without the boo-boos to show for it.
Totally out of hand - laying that down must've been like getting on the original coaster at Pacific Ocean Park.
Now I gotta figure out how to wangle a b/t for First Wave for the wife's CD - there is just way too much good stuff out here.

I had the pleasure of seeing the Floyd during the 80's after the relaunch.
I was scheduled to see the Animals tour in 77 but couldn't change my work schedule that day and should have just quit. All my friends came back from that show different people. We were 16.
Laying down this track was a real rush. Hard to keep my heart from beating out of it's chest. I've been recording in various home studios of mine for 25 years and a lot of the music I had to put together completely myself so always a lot of recording. I will say that once all the backing tracks are in place and coming through the cans with a hot signal on the guitar and a great idea in your head it is a fantastic rush. This was no exception even after all these years. With the Olympics going on I kind of equated this lead track to what Olympians face. Give your best performance ever. The good thing for me is if it didn't feel right I can just do it over again until I'm satisfied. Really enjoying writing and recording surf. It's such a pure expression!
Thanks Badger!

Big thanks! When I first came up with the idea last summer I waited patiently until I had Tim, our drummer, get in the studio and lay down a good drum track. I just knew this had to be done. It was perfect for surf! I searched on youtube to see if anyone had done anything with the song for a good cover. Queensryche and a few other metal bands had done covers and of course every amateur with a camera and an acoustic guitar but nothing fast or hard let alone surf. Surf gives you an incredible way to cover songs in a whole new way.

My gf at the time (both of us stationed there) came back changed too; well, at least for the rest of the night. She didn't smoke or drink and got a severe contact high from the low stratus hash-cloud wafting into the seats overlooking stage left with me. Just never seen her so giggly & wanting to know where we could go for tacos. There was so much herb in that place I was afraid I'd draw a random p-test the next morning just from breathing. Wild times looking into the glowing pig's eyes...

Me too, really well done! I was a huge Pink Floyd fan in the late 60s and early 70s. So here's a great version of an early Floyd tune

"Barrett and Gilmour endlessly practiced Shadows instrumentals, such as 'Apache' (single 1960). They both owe a debt to Hank Marvin's guitar style, particularly his use of echo and the fluidity of his tone. Traces of Marvin's style can be found in Barrett songs such as 'Swan Lee', as well on his final 1974 recording session, where he reverted to basic Marvin-style riffs".

I'm a huge PF fan and this does sound pretty good. My surf band mates aren't into PF, so I can appreciate what it takes to pull something like this off. Way cool!!

Thanks Thomas! The beauty of this "style" of music is being able to take an ordinary song and do it to fit the genre. It just opens up the whole spectrum of what you can play.
