If you look around there are images of postcards for the hotel around on line, with the same catamarans, trees, etc. Same Diamond Head, too. I sort of picture one of the two, Michael or Jimmy, having to explain to his mother how she got to be a bikini model on the cover of a New Dimensions record, then a Sentinals record. I'm wondering how she found out at the time ...

Ha! That is probably on a different level than just a baseball through someone's living room window.

Hi Everyone,
Regarding the individual songs written, performed and recorded by the New Dimensions, most of the time we were left to our own devices. The group experimented with the songs that ultimately were used on the recordings. I can't really provide a clear picture of why a song was used or where the idea came from. I can tell you that Michael, Jimmy and I were together daily. When we weren't involved in our music, we were either surfing, checking out the latest gear at Wallach's Music City in Hollywood or believe it or not skateboarding. I should point out our original skateboards didn't have roller bearing wheels and fancy oversized boards like those you see today. They were basically a small oval shaped board with old fashioned roller skate wheels attached. Michaels mother was a former actress who performed on Broadway. Jimmy's Godfather was Jimmy Durante. During that time, I was present at my cousin's recording studio on a regular basis (especially after I received my driver's license). Richie was so busy engineering hits of the day, producing other artists and recording for Liberty Records, he barely had time to do much more. I did see Hal Blaine record on a number of sessions and later he accompanied me with added percussion when I was a member of the Smokestack Lightnin' band during our numerous recording sessions. My wife (then girlfriend) and I had dinner with Hal more than once and socialized in the studio. Hal had many girlfriends (and wives I believe). During one session with Smokestack when I was still dating various young ladies, he asked jokingly if I wanted to trade my blond beauty for his. I laughed at the time, however, perhaps I should have taken him up on his offer. Finally, regarding the photos on the album covers, Michael and Jimmy used to vacation together and on one particular trip to Hawaii, they were photographed with the surf bunnies who just happened to be close by at the time. My best to all, AG

Art, thanks so much for taking the time to answer all those questions and for the other stories! It was really nice of you, and I appreciate it!
