Actually, we recorded and mixed the album on a 4-track digital recorder and then did the mastering on the computer. However, right from the start the goal was to get the finished result to sound fully analog and I think we succeeded pretty well in that.

Klas no matter what method you used it kicks ass! both ways are awesome, I recorded "Vampiro Classics" to a 4track digital recorder and used reel time mastering strait from the 4track digital recorder "middle man was the mastering rack mount processors" to the master tape but the out come is a fine recorded disc and I love what I have in my hands "Big Pounder"

And that's the beauty about surf and rockabilly that you don't need some fine ass studio to record your music or pay big $$ an hour, all you need is a good machine, a good ear & skills, a few good mics, I only use a 57 's for all the mic'n even today, a mic over the kit/kick drum mic and walla, the technology is so cheap these days compared to 10 15 years ago then yes you would need a studio but now we can do it our selfs and save money, and save the money to have the cd manufactured

I think what we might do is release our disc in both formats "mono" and in "Stereo" or have both versions on the same disc kinda like The Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" and The Beatles "Capitol US albums" box set, the cool thing with masters is that you can make them mono or stereo or at least that's what I can do with our masters, but who knows many many ideas before the done deal.

The electric piano adds a lot, it has a mellow sound that's really different than the Farfisa/Hammond organs that's popular in Garage/Surf combos.

Both CDs are long time out of print but could still be available at some online stores. I know I've seen both listed at Midnight Records in New York not too long ago.

My copy arrived a few days ago and it's all I've listened to since. Great tunes, great sound, great packaging--I love the "Play Guitar With" liner notes.

What would be really cool to do, would be to have a narrated bonus track of a selected album song at the end of the CD, including playing instructions, guitar tuning etc. just like on the "Play Guitar with the Ventures" albums.

Yeah, Parabolica was our last release. It's a double LP put out by Australian label Corduroy Records.

Label album description:

After producing their brilliant debut LP "Don't Look Now… But It's The Daytonas!" for Corduroy, Swedish surf masters The Daytonas locked themselves in their basement studio for the last two years to concoct this, their latest aural masterpiece. In the letter that accompanied the master tapes the boys wrote, "please forgive us for taking so long with the recording. Don't get the wrong idea, we are not uptight musicians, we are in reality just five snotty punks out for kicks and wild fun - but we did want the music to sound right!" What can we add to that?! The Daytonas are true to their word - cool reverb drenched surf played with punk gusto and fire. Thanks! No Quad Reverb amp on the final recordings and we used two Behringer MIC100 pre-amps for all the tracks. However, I don't think they affected the sound much but rather just made the signal stronger for recording.
