Funny.. as i mentioned about 180 posts ago.

The Squier VM Jag I bought was a better build than my mid 90s Fender Bass VI. I didn't touch the Jag at all. perfect out of the box.

Santa provided some cool parts for my bass vi!

A few pics of the modded VI (and a demo) which may or may not increase your GAS. The nut in the 3rd pic is a TUSQ that I replaced the plastic one with, and the 4th is the stock next to the unmodified TUSQ. (The stock one was a wee bit tricky to get off of mine, but YMMV.)

So for a demo, I just attempted a backing track by removing as much of James Wilsey's playing as possible in his song "Untamed" (which I know is a real travesty to do to this brilliant song, and I apologize...). Other than me not being James Wilsey, the differences in sound may be the lipsticks on his Danelectro, and possibly some brighter roundwounds (I'm really not sure about that second one, though). Maybe even a bigger speaker? Different amp settings? I'm just using the 8" in my MP200, which is probably not conducive to deep bass.

Thanks again for the great demo Mike, all the youtube demos are guys playing it like a regular bass. Your demo really shows what someone can do with it as a Bass VI, and not just a bass with 6 strings.

Thanks Mike, I still like it a lot and have been trying to find time to make another even more guitarish demo, perhaps transcribe a song that doesn't actually use a BassVI for some added fun.

Just ordered a sunburst. MF has them back in stock. Also ordered a set of La Bella flats. Can't wait!

Lovely, can't wait to hear it! How low were you able to get the action? Mine's a lot higher than I'd like, even after a shim. (The difference in gauge may also warrant a truss rod adjustment on mine, in fact I'm pretty sure of it.)
