I'm 33, and I'm a professional blues and vintage style rock n roll guitarist. My favored rig is an old school Strat through a Super Reverb. I'm a big Dick Dale fan, really into the Ventures, and I love old guitar music in general. I'm looking to start an act with some guys who understand surf music and blues well enough to cover some of the old tunes, put a little hairier edge on 'em (think "surf music from Austin, TX played at Star Bar w/ a psychobilly band opening"), and also to get a band together to write with. I have a lot of themes and a few complete tunes ready to go once we get a cover set going. Feel free to hit me up at davidnorthripmusic@yahoo.com. Thanks a lot!

LPB, welcome aboard. Eddie K here with Atlanta's The Surge! Great to have you join us. Best of luck hunting down some warm bodies to play with. Having a fresh new surf band in the neighborhood always stirs the rest of us up!
Bandmate Mako and I are working on a show for Decatur soon and will spread the word when it gets firmed up.
Be sure to pencil in Saturday May 10 at the Atlanta Food Truck Park for almost total instro saturation, then the following weekend in the Durham, NC area for the biggest instro event ever, Instro Summit and Douglasville's Surf Fest, probably the third weekend in June.

LPB, There's no FB site but here's a link to The Surge! website. It hasn't been updated in some time, though.

The band was originally the X-Rays (formed in 1996) and became The Surge! in 2004 following some personnel changes. I'm a former member of both versions.

We're a bit too far north up here in Nashville and there's no Surf scene here but everyone I've met from the Atlanta GA. scene are fantastic people as well as great players. Good luck in finding something. I think if you stay close and in touch with some of them something will certainly turn up.

LPB, best of luck to you. While we are an Alabama based project, our friendships with Mystery Men?, Intoxicators, Moonbase, etc. always make us feel right at home in the Atlanta area. I do hope to meet you in the future, so keep involved here on the board.

Thanks a lot, man! It will be fun if it happens. I was trying to get one together for about five years when I lived in ATL before, and couldn't find guys who were willing to learn all those intricate old Ventures parts and rehearse at least once a week. I've been in south GA for the past year, and put together a roadhouse blues act in the meantime to dig deep, play bars, and make $$. So I have that going still, and we're booked, but I REALLY wanna play some Dick Dale tunes, so I hope it comes together!

Soooooo I got a bassist and a drummer who are interested in this project, and we've planned an eight cover song rehearsal set for next Friday night (31st of Jan). Things are looking up! Any Keys players interested? Or pin up girls who like to dance?
