There was a Richie Podolor song in Quentin Tarantino's new film that I saw last night. The new film is part of the double feature called Grindhouse.
A short blurb about the movies if I may:
The movie starts out with Robert Rodriguez' Planet Terror. For the general idea of the movie see the main photo on our myspace page http://www.myspace.com/theverb and replace the Jazzmaster with a gun. There are Zombies and they have to die. Rodriguez distorts and dirties up the picture with lots of fuzz and distortion. It works for this film. The action is cheesy, things are meant to be horribly anachronistic, and you are only meant to have a good time. I had an alright time.
The next film, sandwiched inbetween fake trailers made by top directors, is Death Proof by Quentin Tarantino. This movie is pretty much the antithesis of Planet Terror. It really showcases Tarantino's ability to write dialogue. It definitely competes with his other movies in the dialogue and cinematography departments. However, as it wasn't mean to be a deep plot the story is not very deep and the film is only intended as a short amount of fun. And it is just that. This was my favorite of the two films and ends perfectly.

I absolutely loved all three hours of that double feature. For a guy who spent his teen years watching nothing but low-budget schlock, Grindhouse is gold. I loved the trailers they made up for it, too. Eli Roth's was somewhat disturbing, but he nailed that 70's slasher genre for sure.
I'm probably going to see it a couple more times before it leaves theaters.

I did see it last night, thought the Robert Rodriguez one was funny, but not great. The Tarrintio one was better.
But the best part was Rob Zombies short fake preview of
" Nazi Warewolf girls of the SS"

I loved every second of the films, primo stuff! And if any of those trailers were for actual fims, I'd go see them as well in a heartbeat (especially "Thanksgiving" and "Don't")!

Don't was my favorite. Edgar Wright was the director. He did Shaun of the Dead, Spaced, and the soon-to-be-released Hot Fuzz.

I loved every second of the films, primo stuff! And if any of those trailers were for actual fims, I'd go see them as well in a heartbeat (especially "Thanksgiving" and "Don't")!
There's talk of doing a full movie for Machete. That'd be pretty awesome.

When I saw the trailer for "Hobo with a Shotgun", I was convinced that it was a real trailer. While this doesn't say much for my intelligence, it doesn't take away from the fact that I want to see this movie made!

Hey, when you all saw it, did a lot of people leave after the first feature? About half the audience left when I saw it. I don't know if it was because they didn't like/understand it, or if they actually didn't know that another movie was going to play. I mean, they started showing those other trailers right after the first movie....
The people who left certainly missed out, though.

Yeah, there were quite a few folks who did leave. I had to imagine they didn't realize there were in fact two movies being shown back to back...that anyone would walk out knowing there's another movie coming is unfathomable to me. I suppose it happens, though...;)

There were a few people who left after the first movie, but most of the audience didn't even get up to use the bathroom during the fake trailers. I'm sure there were a few people who were confused by the awesomeness of the first movie, and didn't want to see the second...boy, did they miss out. I think "Death Proof" has one of the absolute best car chase scenes ever.

how do you go to a movie like that and not know its supposed to be
2 seperate films.

Slightly OT - has anyone picked up the S/T? I have "Chick Magnet" on permanent-repeat in my head, it's friggin' addictively catchy.
