If it means anything coming from me (being averse to cliques and all), I wasn't bothered by Preston's attempt at trolling. In fact, I want to encourage him to participate here; at the very least, read and learn from the others. Most of us have been at this for a long time and it feels good to know that a young person is coming along to absorb our knowledge. I've been at this for over 25 years and hopefully, I can share something that young people can keep with them well after I'm gone. So Preston, please stay, then someday you'll be able to say you learned from some very smart people who aren't around any more.

Don't be too hard on yourself Preston. My youngest son is the same age as you and that's how I know what you're going through M8. Its okay to lose it once in a while, just so long as you get it back again - which you did.

Preston i thought you were a blast and fit in well i didn't think you were seriouse.
I know everyone has opinions and some i might not be on the same page as others.
remember dave slacktone i believe said you were mature for how old you are.

On the subject of tuning:
Rob, I would look at the TOM saddles. Make sure the aren't sharp at the contact point.
Also, do you notice the intonation is off further up the neck? Are you pressing harder on the outer strings? Sometimes the odd radius of the TOM on these necks can cause problems.

Thanks for the suggestions. The intonation is good. I've made some trem adjustments thanks to the link provided by Brian (a few posts back) and it has made a difference. Hopefully I'm on track to a better playing guitar.

Hi Preston,
Instantaneous permanent fix for your Jag. Take the strings off, turn the guitar upside down so that the original Fender bridge falls out, drop in a Mastery Bridge and put on a set of D'Addario 13 -56 Chrome strings. If the guitar still goes out when you use the tremelo raise the bridge just a fraction by giving the screws on each side just one turn.(if not enough then one more turn) The bridge has to be slighty raised so that it will rock minutely back and foreward when using tremelo.
End result, once the strings are bedded in you can belt the hell out of these beautiful American Vintage 62 Reissue Jags, using the tremelo to your hearts content and it will virtually NEVER go out of tune! I use the hardest picks on the market!!
PS. Dave Wronski put me onto this to which I am eternally grateful.

Bundy, I don't think a Mastery bridge will fit a Classic Player with a TOM Les Paul style bridge from the factory without mods. I have the same TOM on my Pawn Shop Offset Special. Other than being a bit stiff at the wang bar my offset stays in tune.

I also have a Classic Player Jag. with all the 'so called problems' fixed on it; neck widened, fixed bridge, wind in Tremelo arm. All up, a beautiful guitar which I could quite happily play forevesr, however,... when I pick up my American Vintage '62 Reissue Jag., with said changes of Mastery Bridge, Chrome 13 -56's you really get taken to a higher place! But, you are right, a Mastery Bridge is not made for it. Try the 13 - 56's though. With them on it not only does it sound great but I dont find tuning a problem at all
