talking about emoticons, you know, I just got a new 12AT7 for my reverbtank. man, it's a subtle difference, but it does sound better now. got a JJ gold selected, btw.

seriously, though, to answer your question, every now and then we get new emoticons whenever Brian stumbles onto something funny or usefull. I think about each one of the 'pop up screen' smileys werent here a year ago. but as far as I know they usually aren't created for sg101.
this one has just been added recently, just because I came across it and snet it to Brian, and just like the , it's just a simpler and - imo - more elegant and less blunt way of saying, "guys, cut it out, this is being rude to the original poster." Just like is said every now and then anyway. And really, it's no big deal. if people are discussing pizzas in the shallow end and Bill start's discussing his ass, I doubt anyone will pull a or an on him (though a or a might be in place )
Maybe Im overstating my case, but I think it's worth noticing that these emoticans are open for use by everyone, not just the moderaters. in other words, it's really a matter of self regulation and social control, not necessarily a means of policing

My thought was that it would be a fun way to steer something back on track.
Or it could also be used as a substitute for if you knew you were temporarily taking something topic.
It's all about fun really, not heavy handed moderation tactics.
Pirates are funny in any event.

Email them to me! I would love to have some good ones created just for this forum (instead of me stealing from other sites )

Brian;
i am pretty good designing with Adobe Photoshop as well as Illustrator, InDesign & Image Ready...but, I never created an emoticon before...are they simply little animated gif files, 20 pixel x 20 pixel ???
technologically challenged,

Yes, all of the ones I have are .gif files. Some are animated, some are not.
I don't think there is any technical reason why they could not be .png, .jpg, or something else though.

How about an emoticon for your (the poster's) head exploding? Kinda like Brian's avatar...... or is that just too sarcastic?

Back to the subject of pirates, this might make a good replacement for the banana with the guitar, or maybe the headbanger. But then again, maybe it's just a bit too big.

Wooz, I think the problem isn't that it's too big, but rather that he doesn't drop to his knees and set it on fire like Hendrix.
