So, I have and accidental on a note which is tied to a note in the next measure (same pitch) and is followed in that second measure by three more notes (also same pitch). I'm thinking that the tied note would inherit the accidental, but if it does, does that mean the whole second measure also inherits it?
In other words, which of the following three examples is correct, where the intention is for all notes to be the same pitch (D#):

I'm thinking #3 but I'm not real sure.

It is indeed numer three.
Accidentals are kept for tied notes only, not for the next measure (not even if it starts with a tied note), since that would make passages with more than a simple melody a total mess.

Well I'll be damned, I would have said #2 as to me, #3 looks like a slur. I've been doing this incorrect for a LONG time. Thanks Simon!

Number 3 is correct, but no one will fault you for #2. Generally speaking, I would give a courtesy accidental (i.e. a natural sign) on the first D that is no longer a D#, regardless of how many measures later it falls.

Number 3. If you were to add a courtesy accidental in parentheses you would do it on the tied note and still repeat the accidental on the first note of the tuplet. I would fault you for #2, but I'm a pedant.

Funny how "#3" makes the font huge!

It's the font code for a large headline. Edit your post and click the Help button next to the Update Post box. Then scroll down and you'll see all the command codes.
