Permalink SURF BAND MEMBERS IN SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

New Topic

Hi, Is there anybody, ANYBODY!! out there in Sydney who would like to form a surf band?? I am a baby boomer (middle aged) but I will play with any age as long as they want to play surf. It wouldn't matter to me if we never got any further than rehearsal studios, as long as we could play surf guitar for a few hours each week and enjoy. I have played in bands, gigged in pubs etc, over the last 10 years and have my own gear; Fender Jaguar, Fender Tube Reverb unit and such.
Anybody out there, PLEASE drop me a line.
Denis

Bundyguitar - Sydney is probably the best place in Australia to start a surf band. You have Martin Cilia, The Break and others around the scene. If you could contact Martin, he would possibly know of a few possible leads. All the best.

Well hell, I was looking for years for somebody to have a go at surf style music here in Sydney, or more precisely, the Central Coast.

I had no takers, would've been great, as everytime the band I was in played Miserlou, Bombora or Pipeline etc (and I had to practically drag the other guys screaming and kicking to do it), we got people up out of their chairs and dancing away like crazy! They loved it and yet still, the others just liked doing the same old same old covers like Brown Eyed Girl and so forth.....

We often had people come up and say "for gods sake, play some damn guitar boogie or something will ya!"

My point was lost as playing "surf" music didn't happen very often.

Good post, yes its tuff finding members for surf band in Sydney, I know because it's taking me about one year to get my band together various members, we have settled to line up and now getting gigs (come along to a gig sometime, reverbnation/surebreak)
If i hear of anyone will let you know, and just keep at it it will all happen eventually!
