Separating all the S’s is difficult. If it was a general list of guitar instrumentals I could ace that.
- Fathoms – “Overboard”
- Atlantics – “Flight Of The Surf Guitar”
- Counterpoint – “Counter-Feet”
- Torquays – “Milagro Del Mar”
- Mach IV – “Astro Boy”
- Penetrators – “Midnight Run”
- Cruncher – “The Rebel”
- Vara-Tones – “Surf Blaster”
- Surfin’ Robots – “Chemical Beach” (Yeah, I think it’s surf)
- Jon & The Nightriders – “Thunder Over Rincon”
- Bambi Molesters-Final Wave For The Day (just in case one above does not qualify)
Also, Junior Brown - “Surf Medley” would have been number 2 but it is a medley and technically not a single song. Always trying to make something simple complicated.

We made somebody's list?
Wow, I can sincerely say I'm amazed and honored.
We've not been around that long compared to a lot (most) of the "modern" bands and there are so, so many really good ones.....
My day has been made!
Now back to working on my list.............

Just in case somebody needs another track to make it ten (as if!): So far "Twitchin'" by the Torquays hasn't been mentioned. It's a shame...

Noel touched on this with his list for revival bands. Frankly, I know to many personally to trust my own judgement. I also have noticed a tendency to try to separate the 90's revival and that that started building heavy in the mid 00's... None-the-less, I feel there is A LOT of great music being made today...some more inspired than others, but great either way.

I had to edit my list because of a rule violation. Sorry. I forgot 2013 releases aren't included. The year isn't over!

Well Noah,
If this whole list idea proves to be a success we can do a 1st revival list, a 90´s list and a 00´s list next year. I love lists
Cheers,
Niels.

It is no biggy. It just seems the landscape of the early to mid 90's revival and that of today are largely a separate thing. Even more, the current revival doesn't seem to have come close to an apex yet.

This should earn me some gear talk. Keep in mind that these aren't necessarily what I would consider the best surf songs. Rather, these are my favorites... The ones that get me in trouble for humming in class, that get stuck in my head all day long.
- Slacktone - South Run
- The 'Verb - Flight
- Slacktone - Glide
- The Bambi Molesters - Point of no return
- Los Twang Marvels - Sea of Glory
- Satan's Pilgrims - The Godfather
- Man or Astroman? - Defcon 5
- Slacktone - Bells of St. Kahuna
- Bradipos IV - Titoli
- The Torquays - Overdrawn at Cortes Bank
— IMO.

I don't quite get the difference you make here... What other criteria could there be?

Well Simon, I think you are hitting the nail on the head.
I think the Top 101 should be a reflection of the most popular surf music tracks among the listeners today. We are not trying to gather historical information by documenting the most important records in the history of surf music here. That has been done. This list is purely about taste in my opinion.

Now if I had been truly honest, there would be about nine songs from "Into the Blue Sparkle", along with "Bells of St. Kahuna".
— IMO.
