i know already Big Grin
but some lesson are not easyer too
i think of the victor i have some trouble to repeat it ,it always miss something when i try ,the cooler thing is it is already lower in speed than original but you have to open your ears too ,It's a pity there is no tab with cause it will be fabulous
but is is good way to start

Thanks for the heads up!

Seems like many of those songs are being played in the wrong keys?? No biggy, ..jus saying.

METEOR IV on reverbnation

The lessons which really helped me a lot, when I started playing guitar, are the ones with Jason Lee. Unlike others, he doesn't teach whole songs, but techniques and common riffs. His clips and sg101 have been my main sources to start playing surf with.

I love jbruceguitar videos good place to start

Shadoogie61 has some good videos on YouTube also. While they aren't lessons, it's possible to see his fingering to get an idea of what he's doing.

Cats 'n' Strats, 'cause that's how I roll - I eat reverb for breakfast!

It's a CIJ, not a CP. Those have weak springs as it is and he has the trem set up weird. If you notice how close the arm is to the body, that means the spring is compressed quite a bit already in its 'neutral' position due to the spring adjust screw. That is why, couple with his trem technique, he gets that weak sound arm action.

Oops! - it looked like a Classic Player to me (seeing as how the tailpiece is close to the bridge and having the adjustomatic bridge'n'all)

You know... I think he had a CP refinished in Burgundy Mist. I just looked at the color and called it a CIJ as that combo of color/inlays/headstock color was only available as CIJ. But The chrome appears to be unlike the CIJ versions and the headstock color is too light.

And then there is the bridge(which looks like an after-market bridge) but you can't just be a tune-o-matic into a stock Jag/Jazz unless it is CP. And then there is the CAR CP that he plays in earlier videos...

Jason does present good lessons, but it takes a few times through to get past the Johnny Bravo hair style
His site does package a surf specific DVD set

Reverb...... Putting some drip on your hip since 1951

Not lessons but this bloke plays some Link Wray songs.
If you have always wondered why you can't get them quite right these will help.

If you want to save the videos and play them back at a slower speed, you can go to the KeepVid site:

http://keepvid.com/

Then use VLC player to play the video back at a slower speed:

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

I'm pretty sure Windows Media Player can control playback speed, but VLC also as an A-B looping function which is great for learning songs. VLC is free but there are sites out there that try and charge you for it.

If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.

I find it kind of amusing and more than a little strange that the Surf Guitar world has an issue with helping folks learn to play...
Learn by ear that's what I did... I have heard more than one person say about learning.
Less than helpful...
Don't get me wrong, everyone here is more than willing to share the welth of knowledge about Bands, Guitars, Amps and such but when it comes to learning how to play a song...

Go to the Flatpickers, Fiddlers, Banjo Hangout Forums, Ukulele Underground or even Talk Bass where you are supposed to learn by theory folks are super willing to help learn how to play even the simplest songs...

Why?

"Maybe there aren't any surf bands; there's only surf music?" Tuck
