He was pretty darn good for a kid they called PORKY.

He certainly did NOT play Miserlou. That's clearly the work of a seasoned studio cat. Probably Al Ciola or Billy Mure or Peter Frampton (j/kidding).

and before I get started... I should mention that two songs -'Stoked' & 'Surf Jam' are not listed on there for some reason. Which is weird, cause I KNOW those were like our best and most favorite numbers....we ALWAYS played them.

'Fever' was, if I remember correctly, an instrumental reading of the PR&R version, er sompthin.....I vaguely recall getting very excited when The McCoys (of Sloopy fame) waxed and released a vocal version that had a way outta-sight guitar based arrangement.

'Hall of the Mt. Kings' isn't erased. It's written in pencil. I can't say whether or not that would have been a surf version - it was pretty much based primarily on the recording by Sounds Incorporated. That song didn't get performed too often...owing to the fact that we had a couple changes of rhythm guitar player about the time that we learned it; and it's not exactly a simple 3 chord thing. Of course that didn't discourage 15 year old me! I just blazed ahead with it. As I recall, around that time we also took a stab at 'Slaughter On 10th Avenue'....but I don't think that one came together enough to try it live.

First of all, it's hopelessly out of date. It has pictures of the band way before I joined up..and the other pages are backward and out of date too.
It would probably be better if I saw YOUR band - which I've actually been trying to do....(but I'm married with children..so it takes some creative effort to do things like that)....but I'll show up at one of your RED ROOM gigs sometime. I'd come on April 20, but I'm booked that weekend. I just HAVE to hear 'Saturday Night on Mars' live in person, if it's the last thing I do. Thanks for the comment on my Stratocaster. It's not a 60's piece, but it does the job. I have it totally dialed in. It's about as playable as a 70's Strat can be. I just wish is wasn't quite so heavy. I think you'd like playing it....the wobble-bar is perfectly setup and the pickups actually sound quite nice! I'm looking forward to our next gig, since I got my Pro Reverb recapped and some 'better' tubes in my 'TANK'. The venue is large, so I can really open it up and see how she sounds!
