these guitars are sold by guitarfetish online. does anyone here use them and how good are they? I like the price and i'm looking for better than squire quality without the fender price.

Enjoying the surf,sun and sand!!

I have the Xaviere Jazzmaster copy. It is all right. It has a nice feel to play. I did not care for the stock pickups and replaced them with Seymour Duncan Jazzmaster Quarter Pounders. I bought this before the Squier VM Jazzmaster came out. I do not consider this Xaviere to be better quality than my Squier VM Jaguar. Actually, I think the Squier VM Jaguar is better quality. So I would expect the Squier VM to be better than my Xaviere also (but I don't own a Squier VM Jazzmaster to compare). I do have a Fender AVRI 62 Jazzmaster. The Xaviere is not nearly in the same ball park. It is an all right guitar. But since the Squier VMs came out, I no longer consider it a good cheap copy.

Talk to you later,
Norm

The squiers are dam good i have some squiers with flamed wood and sound great. when they used to have the protone squiers fender had them stop making them because the usa fender sales where being effected they were that good.
i have a book squier electrics by tony bacon thiers alot of squier history in there.i love the 51 squiers.
i'm always amazed at the squiers quality.thier not as good as my usa jag but great bang for your buck.
dont under estimate the squier.

All topics on SCG101 about Xaviere guitars here. I can't address Xaviere quality or sound, but there's lots of good info in those topics.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

i was afraid that noel would refer me to the search mode thingy so I had already checked it. I was right; he referred me and I found out what I had already read. he doesn't know I 've been on sg101 in 3 different incarnations over the years. whatever. thanks for trying to help!!!!

xaviere guitars are off my list. I tried an Axl jazzmaster wannabe recently and it is lacking. not even a good slide guitar. may go fretless with it. probably a waste of my time. well, no xaviere's for me. will go the squire route on my next purchase. Agree

ROTFL Cheers ROTFL I love this comment! I'm still laughing out loud. I couldn't help myself; it was an irresistible impulse. You probably should have just told me not to do a search because you'd already done it. Big Grin

BTW, have you started surfing again?

Duh ok, it was not a really nice comment in my book, glad you found some humor in it. I got tickled at your response!!! apparently you have a bent sense of humor just like I do. anyway...
not surfing as yet, pictures will be coming when I do. probably from the hospital no doubt. this ought to be funny as hell (painful), my balance isn't what it used to be and i'm a bit rusty. at least I can swim!! we
shall see how this works out. mrs. zzero is not too happy with the idea.
still have to get a board and whatever gear i'll need. dr. zog's sex wax
and such. I can always mount the board on the wall if I drown or break my neck!! or get eaten by sharks or...........ok.
noel--have a great weekend and enjoy dude!!!!!!

No worries here! Be safe in the water. You have a great weekend, too!

i have heard a lot of nice things about Xaviere guitars. I do buy parts from guitarfetish. Very decent quality, good service, and i recommend them from that aspect.

The thing with Rondo, Xavieres etc.. is some of the bodies look like squished compared to the originals. certain visual things are "off". I would consider them a modding platform (though generally i wouldn't buy a guitar to mod..)

I own a 3 squiers, all bought new. An '83 strat, an '89 jazz bass and a '12 jag. All excellent. Oh.. and a 200? affinity tele i bought off a buddy. It's alright, the lower end of the squier line.

I bought the Xaviere JM-style with their P90s a couple of years ago as a second for less than $150. I replaced the neck with a Tokai '62-style Strat neck and reworked the bridge mounting to accept a JM/Jag bridge. It was pretty useless the way it came in - the nut location was off (!), and the Mosrite-looking roller bridge rattled and generally sucked. It's now pretty cool, the increased neck angle is nice and the P90s sound very good - not real surfy though.

I've got one of their Strat clones. It's not a bad guitar, but I don't think it's any better than a Squier. Either one will need a good setup to play well

I got the "Jazzmaster" and upgraded it with a an AVRI termolo and heavy flatwounds. It made sense before the Squiers were out. Does not make any sense now. The Squiers are closer to the real thing.

An important thing to consider is that the body on these Xavieres is noticeably smaller than on a regular Jazzmaster. They're closer to the size of a Strat body.

+1.

Old punks never die... They just become surf rockers.

Yep, body is smaller, tremolo in the wrong place, plastic too white, headstock too ugly Smile

Just bought a "Like New" Xaviere XV JT-90 "Telemaster style guitar, due to be delivered early next week. Can anyone tell me what to expect? There are only three (3) Youtube videos featuring this guitar and few online reviews.
