Is this it? Can you describe the sound of it playing guitar compared to the JBL?
I'm pretty sure my MicroPro could drive it really well. I wonder how it would sound as an extension cab under the 8"? Then I need a cab for it. Unless I just want to stick it in a home-made pine box, this will get pricey again. But I can make a pine box for it.

I couldn't really hear a difference but I could definitely FEEL the difference in weight. That is the very speaker (well, not literally the exact one pictured because that's probably still in Italy, but mine looks just like it) I have. I really chose to replace it because it didn't have the chrome cap on there and didn't look right in a Showman cabinet. My reasons were purely, and idiotically, cosmetic for changing out the speaker.

Would you please PM me with what you'd take for it? Thanks.

So I bring my Bass VI to my guitar lesson last night. Alan is really a jazz musician at heart. After hearing me play Lawrence of Arabia on it (and btw, sending it through an analog delay into a BOSS Space Echo and then Tremolo sounds other-worldly) he asks for the guitar. Alan starts riffing some great jazz chords and leads on it; he makes this thing sound unbelievably good. Paul's terrific setup helped a lot; there wasn't a buzz or unwanted sound to be heard on anything Alan played. Way better than the setups on the demo video from England.
He got that same childish grin on his face I've seen on most of the people who've played them, and says he wants one too. Fender are gonna sell a lot of these, which ought to help with string selection as time goes by.
That is all.

At this time, I'm being more-or-less given a 15" speaker and an empty cab to put it in, which were abandoned as 2 complete, not working speaker cabs; one busted up cab with a useable speaker and one blown speaker in a decent cab. I'll have some work to do to relocate the speaker to the other cab, but if this works, I won't need to buy anything for my Bass VI for a while.

I'm looking forward to hearing you play that thang, does it fill the void for that "chunky neck" you were seeking some time ago in a Jag ?

The Squier Bass VI neck is nicer than my CIJ Jag's, to me; more comfortable because it's fuller and rounder. I wouldn't call it really thick, but I like it a lot. But, no, it won't replace my Jaguar.
If I ever do decide to put a vintage profile neck on my Jag, it will probably be a bit thicker than this one, but I will definitely spring for block inlays and binding. Then these two guitars will really match.

Super-nice, Mike. Congratulations! I need another paycheck to afford the LaBellas. Whatcha gonna play yours through?
The Silver Face Twin Reverb with the Jensen 15 never came in (owner must lurk around here) so I got my old Fender Stage 112SE back and the sound is amazing.

It sounds great on the MP200 with the little 8" so far, maybe good enough for recording; in particular, I'm really liking the neck+bridge setting with the strangle switch on. Neck feels good, nut isn't as bad as I feared (I'll probably replace it anyway), paint looks pretty good (something sort of weird happening on the back, but I've seen this on much pricier Fenders too, so not worth sending back), frets are pretty sharp-edged and need some love, but hey, this was definitely $297 well-spent!

So I know why we all oogle over the Bass VI.... but what becomes of it after it enters your collections? I've only tried one at a local store and I can't say it would fit into my plans other than being one of the sexiest guitars ever built...I cant afford sexy for just sexy sake! I need some tangible use out of the guitar to justify even $300

Depends on how you string it I would say, I got two Bass VI's (PS) and the one with the La Bella set kind of replaced my regular bass. I also got one tuned like a baritone (B-B). Since I only play flats, I use the lower six of the D'Addario ECG24-7 7-String Chrome Flat Wound set. This is the only heavy gauge option availible at the time long enough to fit the Bass VI's. Same instrument but with a total diffrent character, I find them to be highly versatile instruments or tools with a broad sonic value compared to getting another regular guitar into the collection.

Nice Morphball!
And I see a nice white pickguard over there, is it to replace the stock tort?

Yeah, I ordered a specially-made Squier VI guard from a guy on OSG; the tort looks pretty cheap when you know what it's supposed to look like, plus I like the clean look. I'm also going to see if my Marr Jag's stock bridge will work on it, I hope it does. I'd like to replace the trem unit for aesthetic reasons, but can't justify buying a good one for this. (Vibrato on the lower octaves is REALLY subtle.)

I am very happy with mine! I got the sunburst one. Two issues:
-
The tortoise pickguard does not look nice... I'm looking forward to replace the it.
-
It does not intonate (low E, 12th fret). I've just ordered a staytrem bridge:

Where/when did you get it?
