I play a Jag through a silverface Twin. Doing the palm muting drip tone, your amp has to be set pretty loud to cut through. If you have to switch back and forth between muted and full open banging, what do YOU do to even out the volume level? I can grab the volume knob real quick, but then the highs are toned down,(At least with every volume pot that I'VE used). What do you do?
— I can't play this thing! It's got no whammy bar!

It's all in your strumming hand. Just back off your attack

Do a treble bleed mod to your guitar so it retains the highs when you back off the volume pot. A .001mf cap and a 100K ohm resistor is all you need.
Right hand control is in order as well.

I'm too spazzy to hit my toggle switches and/or volume knobs, and have found a compressor pedal to bee the perfect solution.

me too. i don't like compressors, but I use a EHX Signal Pad to adjust the volume with a single stomp ...

I use a TC electronic Nova System stomp box that has a very effective boost button that you can pre-set to whatever boost you want.
Works great for solos and for the above mentioned palm muting. took me a while to chew gum and walk at the same time when it came to remembering to hit the boost but I got it dialed in.

Touch my good man. I ride the volume control continuously while playing. Some guys dig becoming one with the whammy, I like the accelerator knobbie.
I agree with Hammond.............but I prefer the 1 meg audio taper stock pot bridged with a 1 meg resistor. (gives 500k with a nice curve)
Or use a 500k pot. The small value cap can be swapped out to best suit the way you think the guitar should respond.
Go get a pack of small ceramic caps from Radio Shack, clean the tip on your soldering iron and have some fun.
Tweak!
