my continued apologies to those STILL WAITING for the rest of my videos from the 2013 Surfer Joe Summer Festival\ the distractions in my personal life have been wreaking havoc on me getting around to finish this project {and then there's THE SG 101 CONVENTION WEEKEND -- there must be over 100 videos that I need to post!) at least all the pictures I shot for both "Festivals" were turned into Flickr sets; I see that there have been a great deal of views, and I thank you all for that I have been applied as an appellate printer salesman since 1997 -- at a time that I was, IMHO, "unemployable" -- I was in the final months of leading a very "dark lifestyle" that is traceable to when I began working for a record company (Chrysalis; an extremely cool firm). So I started work in a company I ended up staying with for 13 years!! I helped turn the company around, sales increased, but it all started to crumble in 2009. In 2010 it hit the fever-pitch zenith, and long story short, I moved on top the #1 appellate printer. As it happens, the same guy who hired me at the first company, hire me again at this 'new' company. But as it happened it was obvious to me that after a month, I was "Cinderella" there -- not made to feel part of a team, a complete outsider. I made an error in judgment--should never have left the first job--there was an economic battle as both firms were throwing money at me to work for them. That job crashed and burned in late April of this year. So for the first time since 1997, I was unemployed. But being a spiritual guy, I hung in there; I didn't even file for unemployment. I find work at another firm, located outside of Manhattan (Metro North to White Plains was either a 30 minute or 45 minute ride). Overall it was a 2 hour commute each way!! But you do what you gotta do. As it happens, the owner was so anxious (very close to insane); his need for "immediate gratification" was at odds with my "big picture" viewpoint. When a client tells me they have a job coming in about 3 months away, I get excited; my boss? He would start grabbing papers on my desk at throwing them into the air, screaming "where are the documents? I don't see anything here!! The job therefore doesn't count. IT'S MOT HERE!" I took the red/eye from LAX to JFK on Sunday August 11th after the concert at the waterfront in Huntington Beach. This time around it really killed me. Took meds to knock me out, I slept the whole flight. Landed 5 am, took the AirTrain to the Long Island Railroad, to NYC. Jumped in a cab, shlepped up my 5 flights of stairs with my luggage. Jumped in the shower, threw on a suit, took 2 buses to Grand Central Station, and then the Metro North train. Arrived at work at 9 am. Not bad huh? 4 hours, turnaround. But I couldn't keep my eyes open, so my boss went ballistic. Long story short, that was my last day there. Why state all of this? Because it has consumed so much of my energy, I simply haven't had free time to complete my video posts. For that, I apologize. I suddenly realized I can work "for myself" and be a "broker" for Appeals -- that is, feed the work to appellate printers, and be paid 15% of the final sale after the bills would be paid!! I even started a company with a name that I liked a lot. One that "echoes" like so many of my other things, like Unsteady Freddie, Twang Shebang, Reverb Superb, etc. So I created a D/B/A (doing business as) company by filing a certificate with New York County called REGAL LEGAL SERVICES. Also purchased a website dot com for it. I have actually already sent one Appeal to a leading printer. Ultimately this could a real success. So please keep wishing me luck with this!! It will ultimately be a success, I feel it. Now that I am working for myself I can also start kicking up my other "music business" businesses. Such as UnsteadyCam (photography, videography), and ICanManage.biz (music artist representation and concert booking). For now I am working out of my home--too early to rent space somewhere. Now let's move on, enough of that! I have I believe 20 videos loaded into my YouTube Channel. What I need to do is name the song, put in the notes, etc. I VOW TO GET THESE DOWN on or before the Labor Day week-end is over. Things are calming down in my life, finally!! By the way I have over 4.7 Million views of the videos on my Channel. That blows me away. Just waiting for someone in the video field to notice this and the style in which I film. Fingers crossed. Each company has a bank account and its credit card. Very proud of all of this. I thank you all for hanging in there, and for being patient, and not hassling me over this. Some wonderful videos are coming....soon!! So now you know the Hell has been distracting me for all these months. Cheers, dripping reverb, tranquility, etc. |
