Permalink Golden Guitar by Sharp 5 played by Mike Brennen (morphball) Video

New Topic

Because this terrific performance is just too hard to find on purpose because it's buried in a topic about the amp he used. And because Mike is modest and hasn't done it himself.

Here's his video of Mike Brennen (morphball) playing Golden Guitar by Sharp 5, on his Johnny Marr Jaguar using his Quilter MicroPro-200.

I think I used all the necessary search keywords to make finding it next time easier. Big Grin

Works for me every time. It's the YouTube link. I'll look into it.

In the meantime, try this link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UalIF_5gR2c

I've used Mike's video to cheat before. Awesome performance.

That was fantastic Mike!
All that was missing is Nobuhiro's Guyatone and that is all that was missing.
Great job.

Nice! Kickass chops, and Mike whatever is going on with that souped-up Jag of yours, it sounds mean! Twisted Evil Very cool.

Also, nice cd collection Big Grin

Thanks, Jeff! I really know too little about Nobuhiro Mine, but after seeing this photo Warren/CaptainSpringfield posted way back in this excellent Eleki thread, I started wondering if Nobuhiro's was just another situation where he played one model live and another one to record:

The Guyatone looks more than capable though, and maybe this is just an unusual photo.

Deadbeats front and center! I actually renovated that shed listening to the great CD you guys recorded, so thanks for getting me through that! (Let's just say the previous owner kept stray dogs in there... not pretty.)

This definitely deserves its own thread! I tend not to open 90% of the gear threads these days. Fantastic job on this all-time great piece of music Mike!

Besides your playing, that jag with light gauge strings sounds super mean and just perfect for a Sharp 5 tone!

Awesome Mike! I'd like to add, as someone who played rhythm guitar on this song, that it's a great challenge to do that as well. Damn those Eleki bands were tight!

Yes they were! Kind of an ordered-chaos to the Eleki sound, haha. Wow, thanks so much everyone, and again to Noel for making this second wave of viewership possible. The amp settings definitely helped with the tone's aggressiveness (used built-in OD and a limiter), and I gotta say the Bare Knuckles in the Marr Jag are very good with a bit of gain. I usually find when I'm completely comfortable with a gauge (i.e., not fighting against the tension), I can really dig in and compensate for a slightly thinner tone without straining myself. That's why I usually tell anyone who asks not to sweat it if their hands are telling them they can't play 12's or 13's like their heroes.

Mike, thanks for the inspiration to go practice today!
I think (and could be wrong) that Nobuhiro played a few of the other popular American made guitars before their Guyatone signature model came out.
Either way it doesn't matter for your rendition because you kicked ass on it and it sounds fantastic.
