TNT --- there are many answers to this question. Principally, it comes down to whether the business can be self-sustaining considering the pricing, cost of parts and overhead, labor, demand and sales figures all necessary to run the business. It wasn't. 2011 in short was the end. Sales fell dramatically bc of the economy that year. Some important health issues put things on hold and in perspective and I had other things I wanted to do with my life. As such, I ceased work on all new, production builds. I've sold what inventory I have left and have not built an amp since.

The very last model was The Tahitian Reverb-Amp. It is like the "G" Reverb-Amp only at 100W. Only (2) customers (along with myself) own that amp. It was another custom dream amp for me to build -just like the Gverb. It's a lovely and yet immensely powerful amp. However, the larger output amps are not as desirable if one were to examine sales figures. The El Sonido and Surfer had modest demand. The G-Spring Reverb Unit was the surprise product and to date number near a hundred sales. If I continued building them, they would still sell ---only if I kept the price to the floor. I wasn't willing to do that anymore. I also wasn't about to cut my quality and dedication to doing good work and/or using great componentry to access a lucrative margin so I called it and shuttered new builds and pursued other interests.

So with this data in hand, I'll probably never build a larger powered amp again. I have spoken to a few people about doing a custom production run of the ole "G" Reverb-Amp. I'd start a build of 15 TODAY if I had as many people with deposits to build them. I don't. Going forward, any new Gomez amp production simply comes down to folks having the funds. Building these amps the way I designed them to be built takes meticulous attention to detail and it can be exhausting. However, I'm still interested and have the drive to do it but it has to be worthwhile from a monetary standpoint.

The folks here who have purchased gear have been awesome. I am eternally thankful to them for their faith and support in the business. THEY are TRULY responsible for taking the gear and making it shine. I just did what I could to provide them good tools. They did the rest. Thanks all. :o)

The Surfers are great amps. Two will be part of the backline of the SG101 convention this year. I own one of them and it sounds great.
I will also be providing my G-Spring (in a Beaver Bottoms cab). If you're playing the convention you can try these out to help you make a decision to buy

I invite anyone who gets in town to go see North Of Malibu. Our beloved Proton will show you what the Tahtitian Reverb-Amp can do.

I plugged mine in today since March of 2012 and was reminded just how beautiful it sounds-gorgeous for all guitars. :o)

It's a sad reality that a highly dedicated and skilled craftsman such as Dario is unable to compete with the mass produced logos on sub par gear. It's kind of a microcasm to what surf musicians face. High quality music made with high quality components competing with ready made pop music......

I was reminded at the SG101 show after seeing the tone-ring cabs and Surfers there on stage that there is still a Surfer w/ a tone-ring cabinet down at Buffalo Brothers Guitars in Carlsbad, CA.

Buffalo Brothers Guitars

$2249 for the entire rig. Been sitting for a while and that's the lowest price I can go and a heck of a deal. You may be hard-pressed to find new tone-ring cabs in local SoCal after its gone.

My tone-ring cab builder Paul Wisenor moved long ago so he's not building them here in SoCal any longer. I lost touch with him so I don't know if he's still building them in Massachusetts. Anyhow, anyone who knows his work knows it's top-notch. Many of our SG101 brethren own his cabs.
