I can't seem to find any information about a stateside release of these. Has anyone been able to find information on this?
I contacted a salesperson at Sweetwater.com and was told that these are only being released in Europe (for now)

I put a deposit for 2 of these babies in a San Diego non-guitar-center store. The guy said the Fender rep told him they will be available later August, Early September.
We'll see.

Well, if that's any comfort to you, here most online stores say it actually won't be available until early August.
Still nothing on Thomann's website, but I read on another forum someone asked them via email and they answered they're expecting them for August 2nd.
The sunburst one looks way nicer color-wise in the GAK video than in the pictures.

Was told to expect it at the end of September and the wait is KILLING ME!

Ok ok ok.. Back in the late 1980s when i was in college at Illinois State University, there was a band called Souled American, this quirky, alt-country band that was coming up along with Camper von beetoven, Uncle Tupleo (later Son Volt/Wilco..) creating that "ya'll-ternative sound".
Anyway... the bass player, Joe Adducci FINGERPICKED his old LPB Bass VI. Someone has uploaded their first "rare" brilliant album to youtube.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-Vtqjxr78I&list=PLJ9Xb_YpEGJZpzV7C9-amgAA6ypLO7KRv

Still out of stock in all European online stores as far as I know. Earliest date announced for availability is September 15. So it seems only a handful were leaked early to a few selected European stores so as to stoke the GAS of US customers. That's pretty clever marketing, as every guitar and bass forum now has at least a thread with lots of people enthusiastically stating they desperately want one, or have already ordered one. Didn't we all learn about it on our favourite forum?
Anyway it seems US customers may actually get theirs before the majority of us Europeans.

I got a reply from Thomann, Germany. They expect their first delivery mid to end of september. I will order one, at least to try if I like the instrument. I´ve never seen one in reality before. So maybe we don´t get friends. But if we do, it won´t be an expensive friendship...

Got my two Squier VI's today, $300 each. Played the white a little bit, sounds good for $300.
Also a couple of weeks ago I got my white Squier Jag converted to a Baritone A-a with a custom DC Kunkle 30" neck, AVRI pickup, Staytrem bass VI bridge and Johnny Marr tail piece.
I ordered from a store that's pretty local to me:

The Squier Bass VI has just become available in Australia. I was going to get one but tried the Pawn Shop one and realised what I need is a baritone guitar. The Bass VI is too much of ...erm....bass. This is a Fender Baritone Special which I don't think is around anymore.

I received mine from Sam Ash yesterday. It ships in a flimsy cardboard box with minimal packaging allowing it to rattle around. It is stamped made in Indonesia. As soon as I unwrapped it I saw that it had a really bad defect in the paint. It was cracked and chipping in the corner with the wood exposed. I hope it was a fluke. Sam Ash customer service was very good and a replacement is on the way.

I got the call from my local guitar store (Pocono Music Exchange) that my Sunburst Squier Bass VI will arrive later this week. I'll probably have it by Saturday.
I was so stupid excited by the news I called Matt22 and morphball!

Excited for you!
I can order mine now, but I wouldn't be able to play it until my b-day in October. (We're trying to do a "no frivolous purchases except for birthdays and xmas" thing... pretty rough!) Post pics when you get it!

Very excited for you! I'll have to make a trip up to PA just to check it out.
I'm having a blast upgrading Squier Jaguars at the moment. I would love me some Bass VI and wonder how much it would be to upgrade them or even if it's worth it. Just having a Bass VI for $300 would be good enough!

Thanks, Matt and Mike! You're welcome at my home anytime. (Everyone is, actually!)
I'm super stoked about this. I've heard a rumor that everyone in a certain very famous surf band are ordering them. I can't wait to hear the amazing music they make playing all of them together.
