Hi All,
It's been some time since I last posted, but I wanted to let you know I now have a NEW original song, Secret Surfer.
It is a tribute to my favorite group - The Ventures. You can hear it on my new website http://www.johndrysdalemusic.com and http://johndrysdalesurfguitar.com
I wrote and recorded it myself and played my new Hallmark 60 Custom exclusively for all guitar parts. Thanks, Bob!
BTW, this song will appear on a compilation CD of a collection of different musical styles due to release around the October timeframe. Stay tuned!
Feel free to share your thoughts and comments here and on my website if you'd like.
Enjoy!

Thanks guys! Yea, the keys made it for me, too! I always wanted to add something like that.
I'm looking for a Farfisa patch for Pro Tools. I have a cool one that works in Reaper, but not Pro Tools
Look for Secret Surfer 2013...remember Gloria '69 by The Shadows of Knight? An unauthorized, apparently, updated version of their version of Gloria with cool fuzz guitar and an in your face bass.

I'm the guitar. Dick is the drummer. I answered a challenge to set up a song that couldn't be "surfed". Naturally, I chose the old English folk song, Greensleeves. I gave the second half a faster tempo. Dick did crazy drums. Listen to the results....

Hey Rich, that is one cool surf rendition! First time I ever heard Greensleeves surfin'. I love your song choices for your covers. I forgot about The Safaris and Image of A Girl. That is one of my all-time favorite surf ballads.
Keep 'em coming...Thank you for sharing!

Rich,
Surfin" Greensleeves really shows a touch of creativity. I listened to most of the songs you had up there. Some really great interpretations. Very enjoyable. Back in the day, Silhouettes was one of my favorite songs. I had forgotten about it. What a great version. Same goes for Going Home. That song has such a beautiful feel to it. Even though I did not know the people in your video, the idea came across strong. I liked so many that I cannot comment on them all. My hats off to you for your light breezy version of Walk Don't Run. I learned to play that song as soon as I first heard it, so many years ago. It has been a cornerstone of my own playing. I must admit I have never heard a version I liked better than that version of yours. Well done.
Talk to you later,
Norm

Mrmoumo and norjm, Thanks so much for the feedback. Out of 120 songs posted on Youtube, I have a pretty wide assortment of oldies. When I was a kid in 60's. followed Carl Wilson around and learned some of his classic BB riffs. Had a lot of surf and non-surf favorites and have tried to cover a lot of them. Proudest of my stereo cover of Crocodile Rock. Maybe not best song but best production and done on single Strat. Really like Secret Surfer. I had an early Astronauts LP and it brought it right back to me. Nice production, too. Norjm, my slow tempo Walk Don't Run is weird, but I like it and am glad you did as well. Funny to imagine Ventures stuff down-tempo'd. Some nice melodies. Be great if a Spanish guitarist tried one. Thx. J

Thanks, CrazyAces Jeff!
I listened to your music and saw a couple videos. Great stuff! I like the sound you get with your Eastwood's and Teisco's. You have a great mix of surf, rock, jazz, funk styles. I grew up with the surf/spy stuff and love it.
Oh, congratulations on your Guitar Player magazine article! I just saw it in another post. Quite an achievement!
If you ever make it up to the Baltimore, Philadelphia area let me know!
Or maybe I should visit Nashville. Haven't been there...yet.
