all i can find about it is this http://stevesmusiccenter.com/amps.htm I 'm a bit hesitant about them not mentioning the output tubes - the say it's all tube, but what's the output stage? I'm very hesitant about it being targeted at a blues/jazz audience, which probably means it has very little headroom, will start to distort around 5 or 6 or so. ... whhich would mean the 50 watts is not enough. the same goes for the speaker which on top is an unusual size, making it hard to upgrade. I wouldn't buy this unheard and expect a trad. clean surf sound. (having said that, it seems like a damn cool amp for things other than surf!) WR —Rules to live by #314: |

well, i checked it out on the toneworks site, and these are my 'concerns':
in short, I don 't think it will offer the tone or the volume for a traditional surf sound. but on the other hand, it does accept extra cabs, and your tone is your tone - no rule against looking for what you like and going along with that. if you're looking for more of a trad sound at low budget, i 'd sooner suggest a crate powerblock (which sounds great esp.if you have a fender reverb tank in fornt) with some 2x12 cab , or a silverface fender combo (do some diggin' first, there's good and bad apples there) good luck and happy amp hunting. let us know what you decide WR —Rules to live by #314: |
