I really like the over-the-top visual statement of this Strat. You can NEVER have too many pickups! The mods look really well-crafted and idiosyncratically considered, bespeaking a very personal relationship between axe and player. Squid wrote: — |

hi! not too sure whether my slight modifications to this Firebird Studio are art or porn, but here it is: my favourite surf guitar, the Surfin' Bird yours http://www.surfgrammeln-san.org |

That's a hot 'Bird, Wolfie!! Nice to see one surf. I've always had an affinity for offsets, of which I also include Fire/Thunderbirds and Explorers. Last edited: Jul 17, 2013 06:05:04 |

Love that Firebird with the Bigsby B5 on it. Just ordered a B5 for my Firebird as well. Was inspired by Elliot Easton when I saw his Tikibird. |

Oh I saw that it had some special somethings for pickups. I do think minibuckers could work for surf, but maybe not so much for doing lots of leads. A firebird neck profile just screams for leads however. I bet it slides like butter. Last edited: Jul 17, 2013 14:18:44 |

hi! "Oh I saw that it had some special somethings for pickups. I do think minibuckers could work for surf, but maybe not so much for doing lots of leads. A firebird neck profile just screams for leads however." They do, actually, as it is (at least in bridge position) hard to tell them from Fenderish-SCs ... I once made a sample recording (for all the experts out there), where the original version of that guitar with miniHBs is compared to a few other guitars including a strat, a jag, a P90 LesPaul and an SG - see for yourself: as far as playability is concerned - the funny thing is how huge that guitar is ... yours http://www.surfgrammeln-san.org Last edited: Jul 18, 2013 02:45:52 |

Actually now that you mention it, I'm getting SG and 'Bird mixed up. However, I generally like the old "baseball bat" necks on Explorers, so if a Firebird is similar to it I'd probably be in heaven. |

What do you think about Dipinto Galaxie 4? Its more similar a Jazzmaster or a stratocaster? The tone of this guitar is very surfer and its for me a great guitar. Someone have one? |
