I'm from Dallas, and could barely ever get gigs there. The only bands that were playing at the time were The Buena Vistas and The Nitrons (probably still are). Very little surf interest back then. That's why I moved here. Places we did go/play were The Cavern Club, The Expo Lounge (now gone), The Barley House, Muddy Waters, The Bar Of Soap (I think now gone), but the scene was horrible. Also The Lakewood Bar & Grille. You might one to try there. All of the clubs acted likie they were doing you a favor by letting you play there (other than the Expo, who were nice), and NOBODY paid. We actually played one night at the legendary Ships Lounge, one of the only bands I have ever known to play there. That was a wild night. -Josh |
