I was listening to this and thought it was a cool idea.
Then realized that it's been done before: with misirlou. Still a cool idea, just thought it was funny

I hope this doesn't turn out to be premature, but I was listening to a T.V. interview with Marty Stuart, and he mentioned that he and his band are coming out with an all instrumental album of surf-inspired tunes. He said it will sound like "hillbilly surf".
I'm not surprised---I suspected they were fans of surf instrumentals from their opening TV show theme song that has elements. Their lead guitarist sometimes plays a Jaguar. Recently they did an instro called "Bat Patrol" that I would bet will make it on the album.

Thanks Ivan for the awesome post, we really had a blast making this LP and are overall pleased with the results. It sounds like us! Recording at Off The Cuff is always great, very comfortable, and analog. We are looking forward to working with Jason agin very soon.
The vinyl can be purchased through our website and includes a free digital download decal. www.d-rays.com

Hi guys/gals
I am posting on behalf of Icelandic surf rock band Bárujárn.
The American radio DJ Cousin Mary pointed this page/forum out to us so we thought we´d give you heads up about our new album (already posted in the news section) released on the fourth of July, available online on: http://www.gogoyoko.com/album/I12 (and hopefully soon on itunes)
We are the only currently operative (to our knowledge) surf band in Iceland. We only have black beaches over here and thus our surf is a lot more dark, bleak and gloomy. It gets cold. The only palm trees here are the ones on decaying 70´s wallpapers or the plastic ones in the shopping malls displaying a hint of life that never will be yours. The name Bárujárn means corrugated iron, the harsh wavy material that shields many houses in Reykjavík and seemed fitting for our music.
Since people seem to like to post videos, here is one that a french director, Vincent Moon, did with us for his "take away shows." The sound has almost no quality to it what so ever but the cinematography is beautiful, depicting the fall of 2010 in Reykjavík: Út, by Vincent Moon
Another video of ours was shot and directed by Katrín Ólafsdóttir, Icelandic "Oscar" winner and Steinunn Gunnlaugsdóttir assistant director and radical visual artist in 2011(?!).
This one is not for the faint of heart, or the non-liberal and should be deemed non safe for work for those who have to sell their lives to others for a living. The video contains nudity, light homosexuality, dead animal desecration, flag burnings, rioting and general degeneration. It´s a political statement from the hight of the infamous global econmy crash that erupted in riots in iceland: Skuggsasörf
Should this not have offended you, go check out our album at: http://www.gogoyoko.com/album/I12
And if you wanna go surfin, surf in iceland!

Thanks for joining the site. I'm really digging your direction and tone. I also really love the band name as well.Is there a back story behind it?

Thank you for that.
The band name is a little mysterious, but what you could know today is that the band name is about what we are doing in life. Chemist (professor and barman) and acevities (professors of Sciences et Vie de la Terre (biology)).
We are proud to say that we do Anarcho Surf music, and think that sciences are a condition to emancipation of people.

The Undead Bureaucrats are planning to record our first CD this summer. Titled "Expedition Earth". We have a tattoo artist doing our cover art. We hope to have 10 or 12 originals (no covers) on the CD. We have some floor recordings of a few of the originals over on our facebook site for anyone interested in checking them out (also posted in the video forum here on SG101).
