Permalink Vintage '72 Premier Drums + '65 Slingerland Snare - SOLD!

New Topic

I realize this is an unusual post for SG101, but hey, it's time for us drummers to represent. LOL This is a sweet little kit that can surf with the best of 'em.

The Premier shell-pack consists of a 22" BD, 14" FT, and 12" RT. I'm including a 1965 Slingerland Hollywood Ace snare, which I have been playing with the kit for a few years. The WMP wrap is a very close match to the Premiers and sounds great with the kit. The 14" floor tom also makes this configuration desirable among collectors.

The Premiers are 3-ply african mahogony shells with reinforcement rings and rounded bearing edges. If you want vintage tone, these drums are right up your alley. The construction/edges on the Hollywood Ace is very similar and compliments the rest of the kit. Please note that the wrap on the BD has a split (see photo). I simply used some packing tape as a temporary means of helping the wrap lie flat, but it has served well for several years. This is an unrestored player's kit that sounds amazing and turns heads.

Also included in the sale price of the kit is the original (rare!) flat-base hi-hat stand, telescoping cymbal arm, throne, Slingy BD pedal, 3 fiber cases (BD, FT, RT), and a trap case (for snare and hardware). There are also two (2) Premier slotted drum keys that convey with the kit. The cymbals and snare stand in the pictures are not included in the sale.

The only bits missing from the kit are one (1) floor tom leg wing-screw, and the wing screw for securing the telescoping boom arm. The "inner" arm can be adjusted up and down just fine, but the "outer" arm is currently secured by gravity. Smile There are also two (2) tension rods missing on the FT (easily replaced, just hasn't been a priority).

Asking $800 for the shell pack + snare drum + hardware + cases (as described above). Open to reasonable offers, but this is a lot of vintage drum mojo for a modest price. I am located in central North Carolina and willing to drive 3-4 hours to help someone avoid shipping costs by meeting 1/2 way. I'm also willing to pack them as economically as possible to ensure they arrive safely, but shipping will be at the buyer's expense.

Happy to answer questions and provide more pics as needed. Thanks in advance and thanks for reading.

Drool

IMO.

I am lowering my asking price to $700. This is a great kit for the gigging drummers or even the guitarist who just wants a set of drums available for sessions at their home or studio. These drums really sing and won't lose their value like a similarly priced kit from a big box store. I'm also open to reasonable offers and would really like to see these drums go to a good home as soon as possible. Thanks for reading!

The drums sold locally to a really nice guy. He's making the switch from bass to drums and after 18 months he already sounds like he's been playing a lifetime. Happy to see these go to a good home!
