I keep getting these cuts on my palm right where the pinky meets the palm (I guess the first of three joints of the pinky). I get it from percussive rhythm playing palm-hit/mute while accentuating the 2 and the 4. I also get it sometimes from muted raking.
Anybody else get this? Ideally I'd want to get the skin toughened up and callused but it keeps getting cut and then I have to wait let it heal, so I can never get it to toughen. I was thinking I'd probably have to work on calluses without the guitar for a bit.

Screw sticking up out of the bridge saddle? Might need to trim it down a bit. Not the slotted (top) side but remove material from the bottom of the screw so it sits flush, or just below the top of the saddle.

Set up issue or technique issue, what type of guitar are you playing?

Man up! Use moisturizer.
Seriously.
Yeah, try to stop short of the point of cutting yourself, never healthy. Also don't try to force it, the skin will harden in time as it needs to.

It's the string that is cutting me.
Playing a jaguar. I don't feel like I'm doing it wrong, not even hitting that hard. I think that little crease where the pinky/palm meet is prone to getting cut.
To give a better example: playing Maybelline by Chuck Berry could lead to a cut as the rhythm is an oom-bop style "root / chord / fifth / chord" where you hit and mute the "chord" part percussively.
I think stopping short of cutting myself is the ideal solution. Stopping playing guitar before I feel like it maybe difficult for me!

Try using the mute attachment that comes with the Jaguar.
I've never actually known of someone using it before, but in your case it might be necessary.

Yeah, shouldn't be the string. Don't rake your hand over the bridge area. Just press down with pressure and keep it in place.

^^^ That's the way to do it.^^^
If you are cutting yourself you are doing it wrong.

Um, if it's not dry skin or something, look for a sharp thing just where the cut place touches the guitar? Maybe a bit of winding sticks up? Some burring? Maybe all you need is new strings or a small file?
