Middle-man for my Gibsons(my straps won't go any lower), Low Rider for my Fenders(just because that is where my straps are set). So... I would lower my Gibsons if I could, but I would raise my Fenders a little bit if I wasn't lazy. |

In all of those illustrations it shows a W-I-D-E strap. Strap width formula is as follows: >width=>dorkish look. Kieth Richards made fun of the Beatles telling John that their guitars were too high. They could rock that way, but had no roll. |

With the years I've grown into a middle man/obeyer from a low rider, do like the (Lennon/Casino) folkie, oldschool look but it depends much of course on what kind of guitar/bass your're playing. Personally I think a very low hanging guitar look eaqually dorkish as the wide-strap. (sure like my slim vintage leather straps these days... ) Last edited: May 25, 2013 03:49:59 |

I'm an obeyer, but musically I'm closest to the folkie. Sitting down is superior to all of these. —The Exotic Guitar of Kahuna Kawentzmann You can get the boy out of the Keynes era, but you can’t get the Keynes era out of the boy. Last edited: May 24, 2013 15:58:52 |

Looks like I'm a hybrid: an Obeyer in form (relating to the bifocal thing) and a Middleman in attitude. Arnie |

Well I used to be a middle man, but have recently become more of an obeyed. Not that anyone told me it was right, bit I can double pick better that way. |

Obeyer, I have poor eye sight to say the least and it's easier to play fast lines. Yes, I like to play fast. |

I play in the folkie range with pretty much everything, be it my Casino or my solid bodied guitars. It can look a bit odd with my Musicmaster since I'm about 6 feet tall though. —Maybe a Univox does surf... |

I'm definitely an obeyer. I've longed to be a Middle Man, but alas it is not meant to be. —Ryan |

I'm more the Obeyer even though I usually play sitting down I prefer the guitar to rest on the strap rather than my leg. Wide straps look kind of 70's to me but are nice on really heavy guitars. Oh yeah another bifocal wearer here but I try not to look down too much |

What my strap length says is that I want the guitar top tilted a little up so I can see it instead of down toward the floor. But I mostly use Fender Vintage straps. Does this make me a cool nerd? —This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got. |

I wear my strap inbetween the middle man and the obeyer. I like to have some room between the guitar and i while standing but i dont want the strap to slacken when i sit down. |

As a "sitter downer", I have had to modify some straps. Of the easily available straps, I prefer the Fenders, but they are now only available in lengths that are waaaaay too long for seated players. I have one really old one that is a good length, but all that I've bought in the last 3-4 years are too long. I've cut them down and Gorilla-glued them to a manageable length. —Shawn Martin |
