Permalink NCD! New Cymbal Day!

New Topic

O.K., first off I've never seen that phrase, I'm sure it's used on drum forums but I just thought it was funny as well as even more funny because I just started playing drums this year, for my demos and if you heard me play, well.......we'd laugh together BUT
I just got an older 70's set of Zildjan New Beat Hi Hats and, funny enough for a guitar player, I'm really excited!
They sound awesome!
Me? Well, I'm working on it. My goal is to Jam with Noel at next years' summit.

Awesome!

Tried the new Ludwig breakbeats kit? I'm interested but can't seem to find any near me.

IMO.

"Tried the new Ludwig breakbeats kit?"

Is that the ?uestlove endorsed kit?
If so, that's the kit I was considering for myself and our rehearsal space but instead I ended up with a Sonor Bop kit which I'm really happy with, especially after putting new/better heads on.

Yep! Did you ever get to try one out?

Those Sonors look pretty sweet as well.

IMO.

Never got to try the Breakbeats
I went with the Sonor for the slightly bigger 18" Kick. I just can't get with the look of the riser kits so the 18" was the best compromise between limited space, looks and sound.
My drummer likes the kit, I think it sounds and records well.
Just got done trying out the New Beats.
They beat the hell out of my old pieces of tin, LOL

Improvements continue with more new and vintage cymbals.
This week I just replaced my absolute trash 14" crash with a 16" Sabian AA
A while back I found a nice 70's 20" Zildjian A Ride and today I just took delivery of a real cool 60's 18" Zildjian A Ride.

What a relief to my ears - hearing and hitting better cymbals!
This has been a fun journey learning to play drums and as I learn various techniques like the multiple Correct ways to hit a cymbal in order to draw tones out of it........my hat is off to our drummer brothers and sisters out there.

Cheers,
Jeff
