I did my reading in the search sections, so I know this guitar pops up from time to time. I have a 60s CP stratocaster for two years and I have owned a CP jazzmaster for a few months. I really like the 60s strat, but I didn't care much for the jazzmaster. So who has/had one and what do you like/dislike?

I have a Classic Player Special Jaguar ,in three weeks I wrote 8 songs so I was highly inspired! The neck, weight, sound is wonderful! Ease of play is a plus, rheumatoid arthritis doesn't really bug when i play for a few hours. It's an amazing instrument....but I still play my violin more!

I've got several guitars, and the CP Jaguar is one of my favourites. It feels great, a I do love the broad range of tones I can get from it. When people come over, it's the guitar they want to play.

What about the pickups, are they not "dull" sounding? That was a bit of a problem on the CP jazzmasters.

I just purchased a CP Jaguar from Musician's Friend and I love it. The build quality is excellent IMHO. I've been playing guitar for 29 years and have owned countless gits, including an AVRI Jazzmaster that sounded great but I found difficult to play.
The pick-ups on my CP Jag are not dull sounding in the least. I love the wider radiius neck. The trem angle, bridge and neck pocket angle are all great improvements.

I got the CP Jag HH a few weeks ago and posted a review. I like it and it plays great, but I might replace the pups down the road (common thing with me).
I think Lollar El Rayos would work great. They're buckers, but they're brighter with less midrange than your typical bucker. They have a very P90ish quality. I have one in the neck of a tele and absolutely love it.
I'm also thinking of rearranging the volume/tone controls so that the volume knob controls the neck volume and the tone knob controls the bridge volume. That, with the split coil blender knobs, would add a whole bunch of tonal variety.

Well it is discount day in the local music store here, 10 procent off from everything. So after work i'm going to place an order for a sunburst CP jaguar.

case ?? hard shell case ????
looks like a good place to post this, I have a Jaguar Modern Player ( love it, and it gets all the attention for other guitarists who play high end strats and LP style guitars) I am a wee concerned that I have but a gig bag in which to carry it, not able to find a HSC to accomodate it. any suggestions that won't break the bank ?

So how are you finding it compared to the CP 60's Stratocaster? I've got one too (in Sonic Blue), but have also been tempted by the Jaguar recently.

I was expecting that the pickups would be either to hot or rather dull sounding like on my (ex) CP jazzmaster. It doesn't they sound very good like Jag pups schould sound. I like my CP 60's strat a lot and I have it for almost 2 years. The nut needs to be replaced (Gstring doesn't tune properly) and the trem needs to be replaced with a avri model. The pickups are wonderfull, they are custom shop '69 real bell and chime vintage sounding.
