Not looking to start a surf/not-surf! battle, there's probably more straight garage rock on this song than surf. Anyway, this is our newest song and I love playing it, but I feel like the transition to the bridge is rough... It's not only a bit sloppy on this particular take (at 1:26), but even when we nail it. I like the idea of having me (screen right) play the melody while David solos over it, but maybe it's just too busy and we should cut that part out and jump to the double-picked part? Any thoughts welcome!

Sure, it is a bit sloppy. But we all have those nights. This is, however, pretty kickass.

The transition was fine. This is good stuff, kaleb. Love the bassist, you'll have to introduce me sometime. Definitely sloppy that night, but I've sounded worse while recording.

I like.."both songs"..maybe it's because I write production music where radical changes are not the norm..but..I hear 2 very cool songs there..I would work on that concept and come up with a pair of winners!

Nice variety, the changes create interest. The more distorted, garage-rock part reminds me of "Pushing Too Hard" by the Seeds.

If it were me I'd try switching briefly to a double-time crescendo before the change and come back in a little more free-time without introducing an obvious tempo as quickly.
Some good stuff you guys got in there!

Thanks for all the comments! I do like the contrast, I'm a sucker for abrupt stylistic shifts, in almost all genres. A double-time crescendo is a great idea, I've got a couple possibilities for that bouncing between my ears already, thanks blueruins.
btw, I checked out The Seeds' song and it took me a little bit to hear the similarity, but you're right, the bassline of that song is pretty close to my guitar line. Nice catch!
