Ok so for a while now I have been trying to figure out a good surfy tone that I was happy with my 20w Fender Mustang...and so far so good....I have found a decent setting! Here she be!
Treble- 5
Bass-6.5
Mod- A1 (Chorus-Effect level set at about 9 O'Clock)
Del/Rev- C1 (65' Twin Reverb- effect level at about 3 O'Clock)
Now im no expert on surf guitar but this is by the best sound iv been able to get out of this little amp....and im impressed! Coupled with my Squier Bullet Strat...its a great beginner set up I think! Hope you guys that have these amps can find this useful....im sure soon I will mess with the Fuse Software to edit the effects even further but until then I will stick with the settings I mentioned above! I thought the Fuze network had an out oard reverb effect.

Fender 63 reverb is what it would benlisted as in Fuze.

I own a Mustang III and love it. The factory surf preset was okay, but I experimented a little and created a couple surf tones that sound amazing (one using a Fender Princeton, the '63 Spring Reverb and a compressor). I also own a Squier Bullet Strat (Daphne Blue) and tweaked the settings to get the most out of the factory single-coil pups, which are decent but certainly not the same quality as an American Standard Strat. Have you posted anything on the Fuse website? I uploaded a couple of rockabilly amp settings I created.

No I have not even messed with fuse at all...iv been meaning to but I just can't find the time. Can you really change the sounds a lot more through fuse? Is it a huge variety?

I did a quick search in the Mustang area at Mustang Presets using the term "surf" and found a number of possible presets that might be fun to start with...

Oh, the irony! I just browsed the "genres" column on the above link: 100 genres and we ain't got "surf"  This from the company that played a major role in the inception of surf music. Just about every genre thinkable is listed: "Bootybass"? check! "Noise"? check! "ChristianRap"? Gotta have it! "Humor"? why not?
Granted, "InstrumentalRock/Pop" are listed, but still... that's Jeff Beck 'n stuff.
What's that telling the younger generations?
Whelp, I gonna check out "Humor"... I need some of that.

I wasn't a big fan of some of the surf presets that were available on the Fuse website. I was kind of surprised to see so many compressors and chorus pedals being added to the tones. The more traditional ones were ok, but not fantastic.

Dont know who cares or who has a Fender Mustang I........but I loaded a tone onto the Fuse site just a bit ago. I got as close as I think I can to the drip.....its still not drippy at all but like I said its close....I think if it could be tweaked a bit more it could have it haha. But even then it probably wouldnt sound anything like the 63 unit.Anyways if you got a Mustang amp....go give my preset a try and let me know what you think. I had fun for a few hours tonight trying different effects and such. But this one is simple just a Bassman amp and a spring reverb effect but its all cranked. https://fuse.fender.com/mustang/presets/latherman87-swellrider

As it was written here before, I find it funny that the company that invented Surf music doesn't have any presets of it. Well I guess they go with what is popular.
Anyone have any good surf presets that they would like to share? I have Mustang v2 III and I am just diving into it now.
I'm using the Super Champ X2 but the Fuze prog is the same.
Those who read my posts know that I'm new to electric and Surf guitar but I will be interested to hear some feedback on my preset:
modulation: twin reverb
treb:6 , mid:5 , bass:4 (saw Martin Cilia doing so)
gain:3
effect: 63's spring reverb
level: 5 , dwell:7 , tone:3

Well, even my old, very crappy and extremely un-surfy Zoom 505 II mini-multieffect came with a factory preset called "Surf", right between the Van Halen and Led Zeppelin presets.  It combines a generic Fender amp sim, tremolo and digital hall reverb. Needless to say, it doesn't sound very convincing, but at least they tried...

Actually I almost buyed a Zoom 505 back then, because they listed this preset in the manual... 
One of the mayor problems of all this multi-fx simulations seems to be that you can only have reverb after the preamp-section and the EQ, while in a classic setup you have the reverb in front of the amp. To me this is one of the simple "secrets" of getting a good surf tone.

In Fuze , you can have the reverb as a stompbox before the amp (correct me if I'm wrong).

Depending on your taste you can also try to go with a bit more gain on the amp model. Even though we all talk about "clean" sounds most of the surf guitarists turn up their amps pretty loud. Almost every guitarist involved in other genres than surf music will tell you that having overdrive after reverb is just plain wrong, but again: this is how it was done in the 60s (but it is of course only a very slight overdrive).
The same thing with the tremolo effect: this was normally located in the amp and thus came after the reverb, while today the standard rule is to put modulation effects before the reverb.
As for the EQ, from my observation there seems to be two general approaches for surf guitar: Some people turn up bass and treble and leave the mids at center (or even turn them down a bit). Others (like myself) turn down the bass a little and push treble and mids.
Yes, I confess: I do look at EQ settings when I am at surf concerts... And I even did photo research on some guitarists. 
However these are of course only starting pointw and settings should be varied for different amps, speakers, guitars, tastes etc.

Tried it today.
I can't say I'v heard a very big difference but it seems to me (I can be wrong though) that when the reverb is in front of the amp I get abit more wet tone.
I'll try it again some days later with more volume. . . .
edit:
Tried it again today , can't say its more wet, but more "clear" than after the amp.
With that said , I use the Twin Reverb modulation and I quite like when the effect is after it. At least while playing in low volume. . .
