e-mail I recieved from Steve Soest, of Soest Guitars, and the Torquays
hey jeff- I’m working with eddie’s younger brother john bertrand to help him liquidate some of eddie’s old gear. he wants me to handle all the sales, so I’m in the process of compiling a master list of all the guitars, amps pedals, parts and accessories that will be available for sale. I’ll be showing some of the items at the pasadena guitar show on saturday, may 25th. please feel free to pass this along to anyone in the surf music community that you think might be interested ( surf museum mailing list, surf guitar 101, etc. ) they can contact me at this email address ( best way, then I’ll have the contact), or call the shop if they would like to receive the completed list of all the items. there are a lot of interesting instruments !
thanks,
steve soest

I'd settle for just one of his picks or an old string

I certainly hope his guitar is kept safe and sound in an appropriate setting and NEVER ends up floating on eBay. Hopefully, before that occurs, the awesome folks at Fender will take his Jag, note the specs and make a Ltd. Edition Eddie Bertrand Jaguar. It would be a beautiful way to honor his contributions IMO.

I would move mountains and sell kidneys to own one.

Sad to report that just about all of this will be sold to private parties never to be seen again. Lots of cool stuff. 2 fender Quad Reverb Amps. A Showman Some Gomez gear. His Jag. Some Strats. Have a list in Excel format but not sure how to post it.

Eddies magic wasn't in the gear. Those were just tools. It was in his soul, and he took that to heaven.

Well Tim, I hope they can "lend" the guitar to Fender for them to clone it before it disappears forever. In a way, it (along with his music) kinda keeps Eddie's musical influence around. I believe this is important.
Just a reminder for us all....Eddie and More Eddie

They belong somewhere like the Experience Music Project in Seattle...People need to see them but sometimes families need the $'s so what has to be done gets done.

AN Excel document can usually be converted to PDF format and that can be posted pretty much anywhere.

It'd be a shame if something wasn't preserved for the public to see. If not in California, then he's certainly worthy of the Hall of Fame in Cleveland, and they have deep pockets so it would help his family too, win/win.

So, how much is everything? I'm sure I can't afford much, but owning a piece of Eddie's career seems so amazing.
How much for the jag?

This is really a lot of stuff.
If the prices would be shown on the list it would be quicker to sell the equipment I think. I also really do hope that the guitar remain at the Museum.
