For sale is a Fender USA factory Johnny Marr Jaguar complete tremolo tailpiece and tremolo arm which, as quoted from Fender's site is the "vintage-style floating tremolo tailpiece; and "taller" tremolo arm with arm-sleeve nylon insert to prevent arm swing".
As I am sure all of us here on the surf guitar forum already know, this is extremely similar to the "staytrem", as invented by John of staytrem.com, and this Marr tailpiece collet was also invented by John of Staytrem. Apparently, he worked with Johnny Marr to develop it (see posts below regarding differences between the staytrem unit and the marr unit).
This is a brand new, unused, and never installed factory Marr tremolo tailpiece and arm. The photos below show its condition and I have included close ups of the nylon insert of the collet and the notch on the end of the trem arm that clicks into place and is nice and tight without swing. Should work for a Jazzmaster as well, as they have the same standard USA (non-Marr) trem tailpiece part number as the Jaguar (005-4466-000).
SOLD!
Thanks for looking!
~Jason.

$100 is a great deal, the Marr trem unit is great, most accurate to a vintage trem I have used. AVRIs and Japanese vibratos are just a little loose.
Anybody with a Japanese or Squier should pick this up!
Now the information part, because there is a lot misinformation on the internet, The Staytrem and Marr collet are actually different same with the bridge and the staytrem bridge. Same idea, different materials/shape.

Thanks for the clarification Jake. I emailed back and forth a bit with John of Staytrem (since that is now my only option, and I have now purchased one for my lefty japanese jaguar) and here is his reply regarding this topic:
My question: "Is the mechanism the same as the Johnny Marr Jaguar? I have tried one of those (even though it was right handed, I checked out the trem bar collet). It seemed to work great, and as I understand, you designed that, so I was just wondering if the ones you sell on ebay are the same?"
His reply: "I had to change the design very slightly to sell on Ebay as I cannot sell them exactly like I supply them to Fender. The only difference is the way in which the nylon insert is retained at the back of the collet but otherwise it is identical, once fitted to the guitar it looks and functions just the same."
Thanks!

Yeah, they function the same. Collet with a nylon insert, brilliant. The staytrem is a little bulkier due to how the insert goes in. It has this bottom piece that has a hex wrench recepticle(although I couldn't get it off). This bottom piece is missing on the Marr. The stay trem would be a problem if your guitar has a shallow trem pocket, so the Marr unit would be preferred in this case.
It is nice to know he supplies them to Fender. I was worried that Fender ripped off his design.

That's an incredible deal. I just picked up an AVRI plate and a StayTrem arm and it cost around $125 with shipping (otherwise I'd be getting this for sure). Someone should jump on this deal!
Also, I've bought something from jjj333 in the past and he's a stand-up & trustworthy guy. I vouch for him.

Jason had a non-decisive Craig's List buyer, and in the end he decided to keep it in the SG101 family and sell it to me at the SG101 bro price.
Quick PayPal on Friday and it was on its way to me. I got it today, beautiful.
Pleasure doing business with you, Jason, thanks!
As to where will it go - either on my AVRI JM or maybe a Squier Jag that might be in the near future, not sure.

Thanks Ran, Pleasure dealing with you as well -I'd always much rather sell stuff to the surf brethren, hence the reason I'll always have a lower SG101 price than craigslist price for stuff I sell. Enjoy the tailpiece!
