One more thing a few people touched on: Cables! There really is a difference in tone between the 9 buck cheapo store brands and the 40-50 dollar boo-teek jobs. If you're using cheap cables, try swapping them out for something nicer; you might be surprised to discover you suddenly have a lot more volume and headroom.
Another thing to factor in is that you're using a Twin Reverb, which is the best "Plan B" amp setup for surf music, thanks to their uber clean tone and monster reverb sounds. However, the "classic" surf setup usually involves using an amp of lesser wattage (say, a blonde Bandmaster or Showman) and having a Tube Reverb Unit placed in front of the amp. This is a significantly different sound, with way more drip, usually more punch and (if you play loud enough) more 'hair" or drive coming from the amp. The Twin, great as it is (and I own the exact same amp mentioned--a '64) suffers in comparison.

+1 on using quality cables. I've been using George L cables for years and they have never failed me. They are especially good for pedalboard connections because of their customizable length and thin profile. They aren't cheap, but they're good.

which pedals are you running, ive found that certain specific pedals ive used in the past were major tone suckers while everything else on the board was fine, its not always about having too much but about having one bad pedal in the bunch

Thanks for all the comments. Current set up is (I am in a cover band as well as surf band so I need to get all those various pop song songs guitar sounds)

I think I try the following
1. Buy a good quality cable
2. Try how it sounds after eliminating each pedal
