"It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea

Some ghoulishly menacing and haunting juju going on right there.

Excellent!!!

YEAH!!! Fantastic!
THIS is Surf Music!
I LOVE this song. Simply pure Surf Music.
Martin, you are a very professional player with a huge playing background!

I know the difficulties in composing cool surf songs. For me this song "Surf Explosion" is a good example in playing not too much. Dark haunting perfect surf melody!
...blablabla...
...just wanted to say: Please Martin, more surf in this cool and hard style!

...how would this song sound with a Jazzmaster?

Twang cheers!

Yes! The song is cool. Just surf, no discussion!
Only critic: the fab-four ludwig kit, does not sound like a Ludwig. It is very big, but it fits with all.
This is a great surf song to listen live!

Well, you know you've knocked it outta the park when Ivan, Ralf and Lorenzo have that kind of reaction! Such great stuff, thanks for making the world a Surfier place, Martin! Thumbs Up

Am I the only one who doesn't like this at all? To me it sounds like pedestrian FM rock and I also find most parts of the song writing to be flat out weak. And if there was no sound to the video, it would be impossible to figure out that this was supposed to be surf music (no, the reverb tank on display isn't enough...).

Great song, I love the tone you get!

Yes

I know what you mean.
For my ears Martin`s guitar roots are in classic rock.
And for me this song is one of the rare "real" pure surf songs in his repertoire. Others are mostly more Rock than Surf.
Just my opinion...

I am happy that they are not just wearing beach underwear... Smile
They look a bit like australian Hippies.

Twang cheers!

It's a very polished, tight sound and video. Pretty basic songwriting, main theme reminds me of Ghastly Stomp and the double stops simply mirroring the chord progression is not super developed, but who cares. It's a good, solid surf tune delivered in less then 3 minutes or so, that should be palatable to surf fans and rock music fans.

I sound better with a Jaguar, but Martin sounds good with a Strat, why mess it up?
