We do The Bonanza Theme; and Green Acres.
Working on a version of Suicide Is Painless
from M.A.S.H. We also have a cool arrangement of
The Lonely Bull played with double stops. Ole!

On The Mariners recent release "Demon Surf!" we covered The Go-Go's "Vacation" (with a bit of the Titanic theme added at the beginning & end) and Shakira's "Objection (Tango)". Never heard that one? Here's the original...

We also covered "Runaway" and "Searchin' my Soul" on the "Wrong Planet!" CD back in 2000 and the HulaHounds recorded a killer version of Billy Idol's "White Wedding" on "Release the Hounds" in 2003.

Thanks. Ferenc originally wanted to do this with another DJ at some point, but said DJ wasn't interested. If anyone is interested as to the name of said DJ, Paypal me some money!

Ewa?

Can I submit a request? I've always wanted to hear a surf cover of the Star Spangled Banner

Hmm, how could we all have forgotten the great Miserlou? I've heard a number of stories as to what the original version was, but I guess the relative consensus is that it was a Greek folk song?

If it is Greek then it has a Turkish name. The musical culture is common to both peoples. A great source of tunes for surf adaptation might be the Rebetik corpus of the Anatolian Greeks who settled in Piraeus after the Exchange of Populations eventuated by the collapse of the (not so) "Great Idea" of the invasion of Anatolia by ambitious Neo-Byzantinists. Misirlu (Mısırlı in Turkish) was probably sung in the hash dens of the Piraeus Rembetes some 90 yrs ago...
